It's actually pretty good!

I picked this game up because i was curious about the awful score. Got it for 50 cents in a sale to satisfy my curiosity. At first glance it looked pretty bad, but then i played for a bit... and it was really fun! Sure, the graphics are a little bland, and the rooms are pretty boring looking, but the gameplay itself is good. I was planning to play like 5 minutes to see how shitty it was and played for 3 hours straight instead and enjoyed it. I will keep playing it later. It's definetly worth the price, specially if you pick it up in a sale like i did. My only complain is that the game doesn't tell you what the one use items do when you activate them, and i don't want to check the guide every time i forget, but that's it. It might not be the deepest and prettiest rougelike out there, but it's some good arcadey fun, give it a chance and buy it on a sale.

Soild Title

This review is from the perspective of someone who neither knows nor cares anything about the personality of the dev behind this game. Moving on. As a person who enjoys the new wave roguelikes such as Binding of Isaac, Dungeons of Dredmor, etc; I enjoy Paranautical Activity quite a bit. There are a good number of upgrades that work together in interesting ways to make for a large number of builds. The combat is fast and fun, making this a game that you can sink hours or just a few minutes into at a stretch. I would recommend this to anyone who likes tough-as-nails gameplay and hardcore fps experiences.

Terrible on all levels

I'll Be Honest, I got this simply out of curiosity. I couldn't believe it was as bad as most of the reviews said. it wasn't. it was worse. Now I have a kind of perverse affection for bad games, heck I've even played RIPD the Game and enjoyed it (Briefly), but this is by far the worst game I have played. Boring, unengaging on every level. I am glad I got this in the insomnia sale, because I'd hate to have paid full price. bland 'minecraft-esque' graphics in shades of grey, uninteresting on every level. Avoid even at cut-price. Terrible.

Fun On Linux Mint 17.3 64 bit

Played on Linux Mint 17.3 64 bit. Nvidia GT 720 graphics and Nvidia 3100M graphics. Plays great. I understand the flack Paranautical Activity caught upon its release. When it debuted it was rather buggy. Today, fully patched, it's a fun rogue-lite FPS. PROS: + Fun and challenging. Easy to pick up, but tough to beat. + Randomly generated rooms keeps you on your toes. + Modest hardware requirements. + Windows, Mac, and Linux versions included. CONS: - No multiplayer. - Dungeons could use some furniture. VERDICT: Worth grabbing on sale at $6 or less. *Linux Mint 17 comes with i386 (32 bit) binaries. I'm not sure about Ubuntu, Lite, Zorin, etc...

Hard to define really.. but not good

1) The game on my machine (ok its not the latest) but on a 2GB graphics card with all settings set runs like im driving a tank in mud, if i un-tick it all the game runs fast.. like so fast & the player doesn't seem to even walk they glide. 2) The game reminds me of something i made with 'The 3D Gamemaker Lite' when i was 7, there is no imagination.. no story or worth time objectives, no real pickups, no real effort to make anything great, it feels like a quick cash grab with very little effort & the weapons have no real balance nor explanation & very little sound. 3) The music, ok at first i thought this is nice... but it fades fast when its on loop and it gives no feel to a games atmosphere like it was an after-thought and just plonked into the game so its not a silent shooter with very few sounds. 4) i thought the 'Voxel' (you know that thing Ken Silverman toyed with years ago? yeah that & what Voxatron used quite well) idea was kinda cool at first but it soon fades into "why am i even playing this?" as its always the same fall effect when enemies are shot/killed. and after running around for a few minutes it gets boring far to fast as the enemies don't do much ether & i find that my health doesn't seem to update that fast nor does the main character make a 'im hurt' noise that is very realistic/hear-able. Basically i would say.... Pass on this game, its not good & looses fun fast sadly.
