Original War

I would love to give this a 4/5 stars, but lets be honest, without the Nostalgia Googles on... Its a insanely slow paced, low FPS, crytptic game with nothing explained a a lot that needs to be explained. I remember it being way better than it actually is. It offers ntohing for new players,

And interesting enough that what this game is about! Getting back to this masterpiece after 19 years is something unique. I've recently played C&C Remastered Collection but will admit that playing Original War is next level experience for a fraction of the price for C&C... Must have for every RTS head! Thank you so much GOG for letting me know that this game is still alive!!

for real this is a must have/own game the name really doesn't help it, it stopped me a number of times from buying but had i know how fun it is for people who like this type of game i would have bought it day one at the stores back in the day.

This game is one of my most favorite RTS up today! GoG version is fixed, support high native resolutins, and preserves perfect czech dabing. Endless fun in campaigns, many ways how to complete missions - your chooses have big cosequences, perfect multiplayer with friends. You definitely love some game characters (Powell, Lisa, Frank in American campaign :-) ) It's pity developers did not finished Arabian campaign, it's something that I missing, but we have many community mods based on unfinished original files.

I love strategy games - you name it, I have played it since 1984 - the Command & Conquer Series, WarCraft, Starcraft, Total Annihilation, etc. as well as the so many middling titles and the military campaigners like The Cossacks, various Panzer series, Blitzkrieg, etc., etc. Original War is good enough to stand with all of these and you will not regret playing it. The game has a branching storyline and the outcome of events in one mission will affect what happens in the future. It isn't Red Alert, or TA but it is just as much fun and engrossing. The graphics are now dated (23 years or so later!) but this will not matter once you get into the game. It frequently comes up for sale on GOG so there is no excuse not to own it! The game wasn't the success it should have been but like cult films, it now has a following and there are some good videos out there on the gameplay.
