Came because of Gothic vibes, stayed ...
... because of the ambition of this indy dev. They put a lot of work into this game and it shows. I'll update my review once I've made it through - but so far it is what I expected. A solid aRPG from an indy dev with a lot of Gothic 1 and 2 vibes - which I consider one of the best games in that genre. Edit#1: Works well on linux (Fedora 43, using Lutris) Edit#2: Finally reached the major city after strolling around for hours trying to get some equipment and experience. The game is very close to the Gothic series and - even more so - to Risen 1. The devs have added some interesting stuff to the formula like e.g. the Ranta minigame for brawling or guilds the player can join (mutual exclusive) in addition to the main factions). The game is pretty oldschool and indy - and currently also has some heavy bugs. The devs already had to issue a hotfix and still have some optimizations to do. I wouldn't recommend the game for people who can't live without fast-traveling, questmarkers and map. The first act of the game is about getting your bearings of the area - and the player indeed has no access to a map. Instead one has to memorize the locations. I particulary love that feature. Even in Cyberpunk 2077 I deactivated the minimap and navigated Night City from memory. Much more immersive! :)
