Abe is a first class Mudokon floor-waxer for RuptureFarms. He was catapulted into a life of adventure when he overheard plans by his boss to turn all the Mudokons into Tasty Treats as part of a last-ditch in Molluck the Glukkon's meat-packing empire.
During his escape from RuptureFarms, Abe received a vision from the mysterious Big Face, showing Abe that he must not only rescue his fellow Mudokons, but also protect all of Oddworld's creatures from the predatory Magog Cartel.
Enter Oddworld's surreal sensory overload of pure gaming and claim your destiny. Saviour or salami? You decide.
I had this game for ps1 when it first came out and I was just talking to my 12 yr old son about it yesterday and decided to see if it was available online...... HaHaHa!!!!! It's on... I'm buying it for sure. Paid $50 for it when it first came out.
I think Oddworld Inhabitants was the greatest. Exodus was great and then they came out with Stangers Wrath which is an amazing game. I think these games successfully put you into this strange world. The images and the personalities of the characters all bring you closer to the game and asking for more.
I recently got a new box, and decided to check all my old games on it. My criteria were; "how much do my eyeballs bleed ?" "How hassle free is the install and needed patches?"
Most important, though, is "How much fun is it in 2020?"
I am so happy to report that Abe's Oddysee is every bit as brilliant as ever. It is still a brutal hard platform game. But the voice acting is superior, mechanics are logical and smooth, and the puzzles are wicked hard but understandable.
It installs and scales up flawlessly to a Win 10 widescreen.
If you only play one platformer ever, it should be this one.
If you only play one GAME ever, " maybe" it should be this one.
Abe set the bar for a generation. (or two)
this platformer comes from a time when developers made games to compete , trying to make the best they could so it would stand out in the middle of all.
This is one of those gems.
Beatifull and meaningfull story,
wonderfull soundtrack and sfx.
the gameplay is still inovative and challenging.
there is still nothing quite like it.
i guess after all this time we've come to learn that, with all the technology and money, nothing can replace heart and soul.
10/10
Abe's Oddysee is one of the games I would spend hours and hours and hours playing on, on both the PS1 and PC, along with Abe's Exoddus.
The two 2D Oddworld games are the only games that, in my opinion, PERFECTLY combine so many gaming genres. It's a platformer technically, but incorporates many different gameplay elements very effectively into your playthrough.
The game has fantastic graphics and music, with even better gameplay, with some great reasons to play it over and over again. I'll definitely be buying this.
