This game is genuinely excellent now
I would honestly say that as of writing this, the game has actually come to *exceed* some of the pre-release expectations and comfortably meet most of the rest. I've never seen a redemption arc like this outside of fiction. And they're still hard at work on it, adding new things and improving upon old ones. The fact that all the expansions have been free is what amazes me. While they certainly owed it to us to fix the utterly broken nature of the game, they've well passed the point at which they *could* have reasonably started charging money. But they don't. They don't even raise the price of the game for new buyers. Whether that's a general design philosophy or due to guilt over the release, I don't know. But either way, it means that purchasing this game only becomes a more and more sound expenditure as time passes. There *are* still issues, of course. Some bugs here and there, hanging connection issues on heavy traffic worlds during expeditions. Nothing game-breaking that I've seen, though. The worst of it that I've personally experienced was an issue with the more complex building modules (whole room prefabs as opposed to the more basic individual building block pieces) failing to connect properly, resulting in things like walls behind doors that made interiors inaccessible. Mind you that was almost a year and several updates ago, and I'm only just coming back after after a roughly 8 month break, so it's possible that that one's been fixed.
