At the dawn of the 22nd century the conquest of space and the colonization of the solar system has been taken over by several huge and ambitious megacorporations. Although extremely delicate and vulnerable, a balance is maintained by these companies. It has now been 60 years since the terrible catastrophe that befell Noah's Ark, the first colony ship of mankind.
On the very edge of the solar system the companies make a discovery which will shift the technological advantage and upset the balance. And so a new conflict is born: "The Jupiter Incident". You are Marcus Cromwell, a young but already famous captain. With your legendary spaceship Stiletto you find yourself in the middle of the conflict.
Nexus: The Jupiter Incident is one of the few examples of a TFS: a Tactical Fleet Simulator. The strong, elaborate story takes you from mission to mission and allows different approaches. It’s up to you which tactics you choose to bring each mission to a successful conclusion, although you can lose a battle and still go on to keep fighting in the war. A reward system enables you to repair, upgrade and enhance your ships depending on the approach you chose. Mission briefings let you roam through an unbelievably accurate 3D animated star map system.
Unique mission scenarios that range from stealth and espionage to fight and rescue!
Hone your crew and watch them grow stronger over time.
Includes a fully documented mod kit: a Nexus model viewer, sample models from the game, and modeling guidelines.

The graphics even after all this time are amazing, the story is interesting and best of all it feels like a capital ship simulation, as opposed to flying your giant battlecruiser as if it were an F-16. Managing your fleet (yes, you run one in time) is challenging while remaining fun. Beating each scenario in the story arc was highly satisfying, and nothing felt like 'padding'. Highly recommended for any fan of sci-fi sims.
This is still one of my favorite all time space tactical sim games... I really wish they would have continued the franchise... great story line, awesome ship control and configuration etc... In fact, I think I might just install this again and play... you will not regret buying this title..
As the title, first I didn't buy it for a while. Then I got it and took some time to learn the controls (there is a nice tutorial from start off) and I got hooked. This game is a hidden gem, that nobody bothered to play. Controlling your space corvette/capital ship is an absolute blast. You get all sorts of weaponry and you will have plenty of spaceships on your side. It also becomes an RTS to a certain degree later on the game, issuing commands to other capital ships or even taking over control completely.
If you haven't played this game, but you describe yourself someone who is at least midly interested in space combat or even real time strategy, then you should definitely try it. If you think, that capital ship battles with giant lasers and mortars is in a short order today, this is your game.
A small note here: there were gonna make a sequel with groundbreaking graphics, back in 2010 I beleive. The game never materialized, due to shortage of funds and it's a terrible ending from any angle. You can look up their trailer on youtube what a fantastic game it could have been. (Nexus 2 The Gods Awaken)
This game is great for anyone who enjoyed Homeworld. I won't write much, but I will say this; missions are usually setup to be handled in a certain way, sometimes forcing you to reload to the mission briefing and ship outfitting window so you can outfit your ship properly for the mission you're about to do.
Apart from that, I have absolutely no other complaints.
Nexus was a lot of fun when it came out. The campaign story was unique for a space adventure. The graphics in the ships and combat were cinema quality. One of the most gorgeous space combat games i've ever played.
The only downsides were the lengths in every mission (which seemed to go on for hours). That and the horrid voice acting. The story was still strong but the characters were just so bloody dull, I wanted to just mute them and be done with it.
