Take advantage of this sale!
You could argue whether this game is worth the full price, but on sale at 5 dollars, it is absolutely worth a punt. When you stumble onto a pair of cargo shorts, a lighter and a crowbar, you'll know joy. And you'll feel even more joy when you pound someone's head in with said crowbar and kill them due to a traumatic brain injury. The UI is a little clumsy, and the graphics are nothing to write home about. You will die early and often. But this game is really a damn lot of fun. And be VERY careful about eating mushrooms unless you are skilled in identifying them....you have been warned :) The crafting system is deep and robust, there is a LOT of stuff to find. The other reviews are pretty accurate. If you think you might like this game, you will probably love it.

Architecture at its finest!
The background of any game is the frame and the image you place inside may look pretty, but what you need in order to enjoy it is the architecture holding it together. This describes Neo Scavenger rather well. While the story is barely there, it is a game that was really made for the structure in which the player will delve into. The game has a few motivating plot elements to it so it is not ENTIRELY devoid of "why should I play this", it just doesn't give you concrete answers to the reasons why everything in the game is happening in the first place. Which...well...kinda sucks. But that is the only thing bad about it. When you find characters that tell you a piece of something, the game dev. didn't really know how to give an answer. Without giving away the few plot elements the game has, I will tell you it is still highly enjoyable getting to the end of the game after 100's of deaths lol There have been a few games in which such seemingly menial tasks to stay alive have been made. But none so well designed as this title. With the design already created for the developer already complete. Let us hope he will add more story driven side quests to the next one. Side quests ALWAYS add the meat on the bone. The game allows you to do just about whatever you want....now if only we could get more side quests, it would be great!

THE True Survival Game
For a game with less than 100MB of size, this game stands WAAAAAY HIGHER than many Million Dollars AAA titles when it comes to survival; not even Fallout:New Vegas or State of Decay can hold a candle to NS when it comes to TRUE SURVIVAL. Which, when combined with Rogue-like makes for a WHOLE NEW GAME every time you play it; one in which you can never know if you'll succeed or fail until either of them shows up (Like that time when I found the Crowbar, some Binoculars and a Sauce Pan on the first town and I thought I was winning, only to freeze to death because I never found any shoes or clothes). Unlike in those games where you charge into a group of enemies with just a knife and an angry roar, knowing that if you die, you can just keep spamming the Load Quicksave button, in this game, you gotta think out real carefully each of your moves. Just as you would do if you were in the player's shoes (or bare feet). This makes the game feel extremely real and complex. ''Do you sneak up on that scavenger to kill him while he's asleep to steal his shoes and his gun? You already know that almost every gun you see lacks ammo, but what if this one's loaded? What if you trip on something and wake him up? You could end up losing all you've gathered so far, and there's a high chance you won't encounter most of that stuff again.'' That's the feeling you get. And that's not something I've been able to feel with any AAA titles. More than once I stepped into the first area just to be torn to shreds by a Feral Dog. Just a warning, tho; be prepared to die a thousand times, even right after the start; once you've played NS for a while, you'll start noticing how merciful had Dark Souls been with you all this time....
