NEO Scavenger

I bought this game based on the first page reviews and average ratings. I play on linux and this game is a huge disappointment. First It is a flash game, had I known that I would have kept away from wasting my money on this. So this games is based on an outdated flash version, none of the keys work, it does not stay in fullscreen, it is hard to decipher (fonts are too small), among a bunch of others issues. Then it will pop the flash window asking for more storage space, and it will ask for flash cookies. At that point I quit the game and will not return to it ever. Too bad, this could have been an interesting game

Short review short! NET SCAVENGER is a game about actual survival! Which is something you rarely see, even though many games lists themselves as "survival" games, even though they truly aren't. In this game, you have to beat the main objective without dying. Which is actually pretty hard, since you have to SURVIVE! Scavenge and find resources such as water, food, pills, or sticks! Ambush strangers or get ambushed by strangers! Also, WEREWOLFS! If you really want a "true survival" game, then I can only recommend this. But what ever you do, DO NOT take that necklace of!

A prefect example on how NOT to make a text based game because it considers too many minute details and makes the gameplay a crawl in combat and it also has no visual representation of where exactly an enemy is, you'd better hope you can try attacking something. It feels random and yet it's surely anchored in too many details to be remotely functional. E.g. I found a dog and wanted to go after it with a stick, managed to sort of attack (does trying to tackle something count?) once with nothing actually happening and then I got bored with the character trying to crawl towards it over 10 times with me, the player still not having a real idea of what the heck was going on it that combat encounter. Either have a good description or visual representation, if I have no clue what's going on in combat, there's no reason to stick around since I image combat is fairly frequent, at least initially when you stumble around and encounter plenty of wild animals.
