Mortal Kombat Trilogy

It's hard for me to express how happy I was when GOG added Mortal Kombat Trilogy to their product catalog - I had been waiting for this title for ages! Needless to say I bought it instantly and what I received exceeded my expectations! I would have been perfectly happy with the old, DOS version, but this release is the one for Windows and comes bundled with a neat DirectX Wrapper, which allows changing the resolution, aspect ratio, etc. I was also pleased to see that the title is already configured for modern gamepad controllers. I turned on my wireless controller and didn't have to do any additional tweaking - everything worked out of the box. Since PC gamers never received their port of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, Mortal Kombat Trilogy is the way to go! Sure, it has its problems related to balance (as far as non-boss characters go Noob Saibot is so overpowered it's not even funny), but let's not pretend we all want to go competitive all of a sudden. As far as nostalgia goes, MK Trilogy delivers! As far as I'm concerned, it's a "must buy" for all fans of MK on PC. A very solid release - thanks GOG!

Well down to brass tacks. I played it a bit last night and just tried it out on the keyboard (I do not like using the Keyboard but I'm ok at it.) the controller is likely far, far easier to use. The controls even with the keyboard are excellent! The sounds, the gameplay, fatalities, finishers, graphics everything is in here that was released in the various home versions. My favorite home version was the Sega Saturn version which for me, had tighter controls, better graphics and sounds and just felt more like an MK game when it was released for the Sega Saturn in 1997. I played this game for hundreds if not thousands of hours, with both friends and PVE and this version just feels "right". The combos are there, the entirety of the gameplay has translated through as well. I had just clicked on the forum release thread about 9 months ago for those wanting a GOG version of this released. Now hopefully something FINALLY happens with Skyrim for goodness sakes! As for this game I cannot recommend it enough. I would tell everyone buy it and support the platform because that is what I am here for. I even set up threads last night on the various Mortal Kombat games on STEAM (I own ALL of the MK titles both on STEAM and on GOG from the GOG versions of the PC version 1,2,3,4 - I hope they release UMK3 sometime! I also own MK Kollection, MK10, MK11, and the last MK game komplete with all the various DLCs) - I'm not worried as there are a TON of simultaneous STEAM and GOG users who hopefully see my thread and come and buy this on GOG. I LOVE GOG as a platform and the promise of title ownership and I usually try and always buy my real favorite games on here for titles I specifcally want to own. Thank you to GOG, and everyone else making it possible to finally be able to buy Mortal Kombat Trilogy! This is THE DEFINITIVE version of MK Trilogy and rivals the impressive Sega Saturn version from gameplay to finishing moves. Friendship, friendship, again?

I have been waiting for this game for ages. MK Trilogy was the last and best 2D version of Mortal Kombat, but very difficult to get a hold of on PC. Now we finally have it available again on GOG, and this version works perfectly on Windows 10. Thanks to Midway Games, Warner Bros. and GOG for this fantastic release. Controllers work out of the box, sound is great, and lots of useful DirectX options with this GOG release.

I played the N64 version back in the day. But, that version left out a number of things that the PC/PSX version had. This new re-release based on the PC/PSX version has been very stable for me and ran great right out of the box. No need for workarounds, joytokey programs, etc..... Works perfectly for me in Windows 11 Pro. The music files are stored in the Music Folder where the game is installed in .OGG format ("D:\Mortal Kombat Trilogy\music" in my case) so you can listen to the music with your favorite Media Player if you so desire.

Classic, the definitive game of the series is worth every penny spent, I prefer this one with real actors digitized a tip for those who want to play with the full screen filled with no black borders, just go to the folder where you installed the game and open the directX configuration (dxcfg) Aspect Ratio Correction and select the Disabled option.
