One of the best rpg franchise out there

I have to say that long time ago i bough this version on cd but i have to say i wasnt fond of this franchise because i remembered rented 2 on the megadrive and there were the strangest monsters I ever seen in a video game and i died a lot and off course the infamous SOLID! message but i liked 6 so that was good enough for me and then came this on gog, still scepical but i lost my cd and i did some researdch and most were saying how great 3 till 5 was so i couldnt help myself to buy it again and try again. But sinc3e im a type who wants to play franchise games at the start so this is what i think of it. 01: This game graphics is bad but since i never -play games on graphics i must say i spend some times with this game till i explored the city and fighting monsters till lvl 4. The good things it feels big but hard because the futher you explore the harder the monsters get but i have to say I liked it even if its hard to navigate there because everything looks the same and there are no landmarks and no automap you have to draw it yourself and the game oesnt keep notes so you have to do that too with gives the game a bit of pen and paper rpg feel wich i think that was the purpose. 02: i havent played this one yet since i still got the sour taste of the megadrive version. 03. I think it was the reboot then what the franchise needed there were done things better and i have to say i love how they improve there game the futher you go into the franchise and i liked how they eprfected the next 2. world of xeen: Or you could say 2 games intergrated into 1 game when you installed 4 and 5 you get 1 game called world of xeen and i must say its my favorite 1 in this package, you could go everywhere and there are lots of quests to do gear to get dungeons to explore monsters to fight i played many many hours in this game and there are still quests i have to do and it was the easiest game to get around if you new to the franchise but its bad as well that its a great game, the problem is most things so good in this game it makes the previous games frustrating even if they are great games. 06: This game was the next reboot of the franchise it was 3d you could turn 8 ways wich was new to the series since 1 to 5 were 4 ways you could go. It has the same feeling of wonder around and it has lots of quests as well and it has the mecanic as 3 to 5 that you can kill your enemy at the distance but they changed it that not all of you char can shoot, at the previous all fighters, rangers, robbers ninjas and paladins could use a bow but in 6 you must have a skill in it but if you teach you characters the bow skill everybody can shoot wich makes the game a bit easier to play since you kill your enemies at a distance wich makes it possible to take on some stronger enemies if you stay at a dinstance, I have to say its a great gane but the 4/5 were the better ones since they had things what made the franchise more playeble. I have to say you get more worth with your bug here but i have to say take your time playing the previous they are fun but 1 2 it is a bit frustrating if you dont know how to make notes or draw a map but even if you cant there still 3 to 6 wich is 1 of the best packages you can get period.

It is Mighty and Magical

Might and Magic 6 is known for being the best in the series, followed right behind Might and Magic 7. MM6 is an RPG adventure where you choose a party of 4, who start as wimps struggling to kill pesky rats in a basement and you watch them transform into Heroes of the land you slain Titans and land ravaging beasts such as Hydras or Devils. I owned the disc copy back in the 90s and I've played it for 15 years, and I picked it up again now and some of the puzzles still get me. MM6 brings back the good old days of gaming where graphics/visuals didn't mean anything, it was the gameplay that made the game. Puzzles are around every corner; they make you think a little, but are definitely not overwhelming or confusing. The feeling you get after finding Nicholai with no help is SO REWARDING! The combat is simple to understand and entertaining. In game you have a choice of using turn based or real time combat. Turn based combat- you take an attack then the enemy takes an attack. Real Time combat- monsters are attacking, you are attacking, spells are flying, swords swinging, clubs clubbing, its an absolute thrill! Gameplay outside of combat is centered around puzzles, town exploration, talking to the locals for quests, lore, and intrigue. The game offers clues on where to go next but will never tell you where to go. It makes the player think about the quest they just completed and how it affects the local region. A con to the game is repetitiveness. Everywhere town you enter there are local quests and quests that send you abroad the world. Each quest involves you killing monsters in a dungeon. This isn't a problem though because every monster fights differently. Some can only be killed with magic, and others can only be killed with physical attacks. MM6 brings back the 90s. Nostalgia from back when you were a kid. Now kids won't get it, but if you can look pass the older graphics and dive deep into the lore and environment the game provides, you will not be disappointed.

Happiness In a Game

This is the best RPG I've ever played just in terms of the sheer amount to do, the personality, the tone of adventure and discovery. It's dated only in the graphics but the UI is easy to use with so many shortcuts added just to make the experience that much more enjoyable. It's difficult, but fairly so and makes the climb to greatness feel earned and satisfying. It's an RPG in that you really do feel like you're playing roles. So many little details keep you engaged with your party such as their little grins or frowns as they fail of succeed at tasks or even so much as get a good or bad deal at a store. The music is beautiful, the world intriguing, sound effects on point, tons to do and more to see. Just click on stones to find hidden caches, overhear conversations and go on quests, get drunk...it's all possible! Only thing holding it back is the limitations of contemporary hardware comparatively. The game tends to run in a tiny window and you need to set the compatibility before it will function at all, but there's mods to improve the experience. If you haven't played an MM game, this is the one. Nostalgia might be contributing to my opinion, but I went back and played it and it's better than ever.

Still very addictive and good

After playing countless RPGs, including greats like Morrowind and Skyrim, I was a bit doubtful when nostalgia hit me to replay MM6, especially that it is one of those few games I hugely enjoyed but never finished its main quest. I thought that the dated graphics will put me off and I will quit after an hour or two. Hoo boy I was wrong. For some reason MM6 is extremely addictive. I ended up playing for 2 months until I finished the main quest. The dated graphics required only an hour of adjustment and was enjoyable even with a streched screen (the game natively does not support widescreen, you need to download an unofficial patch). Its simple yet compelling RPG mechanics and well crafted world has a charm that few games have. It is also quite challenging. Interestingly after I finished MM6, I went to MM7 which I liked more back then because of its more high-fantasy-ish setting, improved mechanics, more items, etc. but I quickly quit in digust. Dunno why. Seems MM6 has aged better. Very highly recommneded!
