Metro: Last Light Redux

For a game that claims to be immersive, this one starts by just throwing you into a role and then proceeding from A-B. You never really care about the story or your character. You get captured, betrayed, and freed, but it does not matter. You just move from A-B either using stealth to backstab or kill everyone if you make a mistake. There are towns, but you visit them once and never again. The result? You don't really care about them or their people. It's just another attraction on a one way trip. It all feels very formulaic and limiting like very old games that have set areas you need to memorize. The graphics and sounds are nice enough, but the gameplay is standard shooter material. However, it gets rather unforgiving at points. As others have pointed out, the swamp section towards the end is horrific as you essentially have a time limit via gas filters, and you have to run around fighting monsters and waiting on a ferry. Worst of all, the game will auto save, which can leave you in a situation where you reload surrounded by enemies and out of air. It's just another reason to lose interest here. For comparison, a different game in the same vein called 'Stalker' has similar issues, but the ability to use small towns as an HQ allows you to get your bearings and tackle it. Metro Last Light Redux just feels like a game thrown together to impress with graphics and 'immersion', but ultimately fails to impress.

Metro Last Light have some good ideas and ones of the coolest situations of the Metro Franchise, BUT, at half of the game approx. it became a really boring game in my opinon. But even wit h that problem, if you played 2033 and you liked it, give this Metro game an oportunity, it may disappoint you, or may not, but it won't let you undifferent

Very nice game. The story is extremely captivating, and the graphics are very well done -even by todays standars (2015). I just completed the game (14-05-2015), and really enjoyed every minute of the whole playthrough. Pros: +Beautiful graphics +Captivating story +Modable weaponry +Great variaty of difficulty settings (FPS, Horror, Hardcore etc.) Cons: -Facial expressions could be better -Not open world -Not possible to continue playing your savegame, after completion

I played until chatper 12, at which point the game just become a grindy affair of rishing due to gas mask filters and masters spawning behind you. Some levels are just really unclear in layout or what to do next. Bugs pops here and there, sometimes forcing you to restart a chapter as, for reasons unknown, you can't unholster your gun. You car does not start, so on and so forth. Collision with mosters attacks are also approximate at best. Some attacks clearly miss, but you still take damage. To make the game more engaging, mosters are spawned in huge waves sometimes and... argh, with slow movement and reload, it is just a frustration exercise to redo the sequence a few times, to avoid eneies spawning at difficult to see angles. Enemies are 100% silent. Just jump and run, without a single noise, giving them away. Compared to first one, ammunitions are plenty. But this continuous filter swapping is a torture.
