Description

The Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition is out now! The radical update which harnesses the power of Ray Tracing capable GPUs to deliver an incredible visual upgrade.

The Metro Exodus PC Enhanced Edition is free for all existing owners of Metro Exodus on PC, but the upgrade is so extensive, it can not be delivered as a patch - instead, it is available as a separate entitlement. Upgrades include DLSS 2.0 Inclusion, Ray Traced Emissive Lighting used throughout, FOV slider, increased framerates and display resolutions. A Ray Tracing capable GPU is the minimum spec for this beast, and you can upgrade right now for free if you own Metro Exodus.

Please check here how to access Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition on GOG.

Metro Exodus - Gold Edition contains the main game and two major pieces of story-driven DLC: The Two Colonels & Sam's Story

Metro Exodus

The year is 2036.

A quarter-century after nuclear war devastated the earth, a few thousand survivors still cling to existence beneath the ruins of Moscow, in the tunnels of the Metro.

They have struggled against the poisoned elements, fought mutated beasts and paranormal horrors, and suffered the flames of civil war.

But now, as Artyom, you must flee the Metro and lead a band of Spartan Rangers on an incredible, continent-spanning journey across post-apocalyptic Russia in search of a new life in the East.

Metro Exodus is an epic, story-driven first person shooter from 4A Games that blends deadly combat and stealth with exploration and survival horror in one of the most immersive game worlds ever created.

Explore the Russian wilderness across vast, non-linear levels and follow a thrilling story-line that spans an entire year through spring, summer and autumn to the depths of nuclear winter.

Inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, Metro Exodus continues Artyom’s story in the greatest Metro adventure yet.

Features

  • Embark on an incredible journey - board the Aurora, a heavily modified steam locomotive, and join a handful of survivors as they search for a new life in the East
  • Experience Sandbox Survival - a gripping story links together classic Metro gameplay with new huge, non-linear levels
  • A beautiful, hostile world - discover the post-apocalyptic Russian wilderness, brought to life with stunning day / night cycles and dynamic weather
  • Deadly combat and stealth - scavenge and craft in the field to customize your arsenal of hand-made weaponry, and engage human and mutant foes in thrilling tactical combat
  • Your choices determine your comrades’ fate - not all your companions will survive the journey; your decisions have consequence in a gripping storyline that offers massive re-playability
  • The ultimate in atmosphere and immersion - a flickering candle in the darkness; a ragged gasp as your gasmask frosts over; the howl of a mutant on the night wind - Metro will immerse and terrify you like no other game…

Metro Exodus base game also supports Chinese Simplified (text), Chinese Traditional (text), Czech (text), Ukrainian (text) and Japanese (text) languages.

Metro Exodus - The Two Colonels

Just below the surface, under the dead city of Novosibirsk, Colonel Khlebnikov makes his way home to his son, Kirill, for New Years Eve.

But all is not well with the people here: the slime is further consuming the tunnels, mutant attacks appear to be on the rise and the precious ‘green stuff’ that protects the people from radiation poisoning is running low. In order to secure the survival of any of the people, those in charge may need to take drastic measures…

Following the journey and experiences of Khlebnikov during the last days of life in Novosibirsk, retraced by Colonel Miller a year later, players can expect the classic story-driven gameplay of the Metro series in this new linear chapter, complete with a brand new weapon, the deadly flame-thrower, claustrophobic environments, and the all-too-familiar hair-raising tension.

Metro Exodus - Sam's Story

Sam, a US marine at the Moscow embassy before the bombs were dropped, has long dreamed of returning to his homeland, and maybe finding his family alive. The prospect seemed impossible in the darkened tunnels of the Metro, but when the Spartans discovered that Moscow was not the only city left alive after the war, holding out hope didn’t feel so foolish anymore.

Sam makes his way away from the Aurora in search of a way back to the USA, arriving at the remains of Vladivostok’s tsunami ravaged harbours, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts. To complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected.

Players will forge Sam's path through the sandbox survival landscape of Vladivostok, as they take a brand new journey across the wasteland of post-apocalyptic Russia.

Breathtaking

I haven't been hooked to a video game for a long time. Until Metro came along. I decided to do a complete run of the series starting with Metro 2033 and ending with Exodus. While the first two Metro games are amazing and unique in their own regard, Exodus takes everything that was good about those two and makes it even better BUT you need to play the first two to understand and appreciate Exodus fully. So go and play those first if you haven't. Also: play the Metro games at night in a dark room for maximum immersion. The storytelling in Exodus is amazing and the characters and dialogue is extremely well done. I ended up bonding to the characters and feeling like those were actually my friends. It felt like they were real people. I never had experienced something similar with a videogame before. Also I enjoyed the exploration and lore a lot. If you do not rush the main quest and go off to explore every corner of the open world levels you will find so much detail, notes that tell you about the world and its inhabitants, audio recordings, encounters with locals, environmental storytelling and upgrades for your gear that you can only find once in the whole playthrough. For people who like to take it slow and immerse themselvers in a believable well built world that puts emphasis on storytelling this game is perfect. Especially since each level has its own lore and history that you can slowly piece together through enemy dialogue while sneaking, notes and many other ways. As for the time it takes to beat the game: it hugely depends on your playstyle. I really took my time and tried to experience everything the game has to offer and listen to every skippable/missable/optional dialogue. For the campaign and Sams Stroy DLC I needed around 53h. Currently playing the other DLC. That'll add up a few hours on top of that. To sum up: Get. This. Game.

Bug filled mess

I played the first 2 metro games on the PS3 and on steam, exodus is the buggiest of them all. From floaty jump that don't let you grab ledges you should be able to grab to random super jumps that kill you because of the fall damage and inconsistent fall damage. The worst bug I just encountered is the one from the Caspian Sea chapter. The Damir Glitch, its been over a year since the game released and the developers have refused to fix it. It hard locks progression and they suggest restarting the whole chapter losing all progress you've made. I like to clear the map before progressing the story so this really ruined the game for me. Going to try to get a refund.

Not what I was hoping for

I guess I was hoping for something more like STALKER with open world and survival elements. It has couple of bigger maps, but overall it's a pretty linear game. It's very much a modern shooter with uncontrollable cutscenes and guick time events. The story is forgettable and people just talk, talk, talk and yet have really nothing interesting to say. I did beat the game and it's DLCs, so I guess it wasn't all bad. It was an ok experience, althought I wouldn't have missed much if I decided not to buy it.

One step forward, three steps back

The Good: + Great graphics + At times very atmospheric + Likable characters + Two large sandbox hubs to explore + Shooting feels good and responsive + Weapon mods can be used for more than 1 weapon + Finally subtitles for almost every conversation + Spider Bunker & Dead City + Day/Nighttime cycle + DLC The Bad: - Metro's confined gameplay doesn't really work for open world - Story doesn't make any sense if you think about it - Hilariously bad English voice-overs - Artyom still is a silent protagonist in-game! - Artyom has no stamina and is tired after running 50 meters - Extremely dumb enemy A.I. - Too many unskippable cutscenes - QTE's for literally every movement (crawling, opening doors etc) - The Caspian is a big and boring Mad Max-like hub with very little to do - Yamantau is an on-rail shooting gallery - Can't sleep/rest on the train! - Waaaay too much talking!! - Stealth is too easy - Invisible walls - Annoying bear boss fight (again!) - Bugs, bugs, bugs The Ugly: - Realizing that still no game can beat S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s immersion and A-Life.
