MegaRace 1+2

MegaRace is a FMV (Full Motion Video) CD-ROM game. But don't let that stop you, because it has nothing in common with the infamous "Plumbers Don't Wear Ties." This one is actually good and may be the best FMV game ever made. The good writing and Christian Erickson's amazing delivery make seeing all the video scenes a real reward for finishing the races. You absolutely must try MegaRace just to see how good FMV games could have been if they were made by people who cared about making something good with the technology. MegaRace 2 is bad. Don't play it.

Silly game with ludicrous TV show hosts, sarcastic word building and the ever present threat to be sent back to reality! *gasp* The driving physics are basic arcade style: prerendered backdrop movies where your 3D polygon car strafes left and right while the NonPlayerCars annoy you and the races feel rigged - which fits the lore, but then, you can just show up on a car loaded with ton of mines and rockets >:D Despite the low pixel resolution, the prerendered tracks still look beautiful and interesting. Clearly a case where aesthetics > graphics. Definitely an amusing game.

My first time playing megarace was close to 30 years ago with the SEGA CD version and that version was awful, so I didn't have high hopes when it came to picking this one up when it was on sale, but all things considered, it was a really fun game and the great cutscenes with lance boyle felt like it was ripped right from a Paul Verhoeven film. Both games are filled to the brim with charm and are actually fun when compared to the sega cd version I had played. I had a bit of a hard time getting my controller to work with Megarace 2, but alternate contols are still fine. If you're on the fence about purchasing, wait for a sale, but even at full price I consider them worth it.

An "Awesome Old Game" best old racing game evar in my opinion! back when I was in elementaary school this came in a game pack with our packard bell.. this game was so fun!!!!!! adn yes Lance Boyle added a lot ofcharacter to the game!!! I am purchasing this right now!

the first game is awful but lance boyle is an iconic character and there's a lot of cheesy game show fmv to enjoy if you can endure the races. the second plays much better and also has a lot of fmv. without those I would've never bothered for long (and would've given it fewer stars).
