Description
Become part of an Army Ranger team as you battle your way through enemy-infested towns, regain control of the Atlantic, and establish a beachhead as part of the D-Day invasion force on Omaha Beach in Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Spearhead chronicles the last year of the war on the European front. Parachute behind enemy lines during Operation Overlord, halt the German offensive during the Battle of the Bulge, and engage the German forces as they desperately try to defend the heart of the Reich, Berlin. In Medal of Honor: Allied Assault - Breakthrough, you’ll join U.S. Army Sergeant John Baker as fights in the battle at Kasserine Pass in North Africa, race to capture Messina in Sicily, and finally repel the German army at the historic battle of Monte Battaglia in the heart of Italy.

Medal of Honor: Allied Assault War Chest is a treasure trove of historical battles presented as a gritty World War II action FPS. Good old WW2 shooter

This game thought me that german soldiers like to hide in wardrobes... I've played this game in my childhood. It was fun back then and still is! I can honestly say that it aged very well, if you don't dislike old-ish graphics. This is the game that inspired the first Call of duty. Many devs from this game actually went to develop the first Call of Duty. It's a fun, challening world war 2 shooter with missions that actually look and feel like you're an elite soldier during ww2. There's a bunch of unique missions, the most obvious one being the D-Day mission. There's also some pretty good 'infiltration' missions where you have to find a uniform and papers to pass through some of the level undetected. You have to upgrade your papers to progress further, at the risk of being identified. It dosn't take long before you complete your objectif of blowing up some top secret german weapon, which starts the action of the level until your escape. It's a classic game, really. Worthy to be on this 'Good old Games' site.

Fun gameplay, but overstays its welcome

MoHAA is by today's standards a fairly unique shooter. It wasn't so back in the day, but some key features like health pickups, no iron sights for most weapons and the fact that the player is in complete control for most of the experience make it stand out now. The first thing you might notice when booting the game up is the rather lacking texture work. Yes, this is 2002 and a lot of the game looks fine, but some walls and terrain just look muddy and rushed even for the time. Not that that's such a big issue since it's compensated fairly well by the fact that the weapons look and feel great. I'd say that the main draw of this game is being able to use these WW2 era weapons to mow down hordes of nazis. The music in the game is also superb and more than one track managed to wiggle itself into my brain after I had completed it. Now the gameplay itself is just a whole lot of shooting nazis while going from point A to point B and that is fine and fun for most of the game, but towards the tail end of the campaign there's a distinct increase in the amount of enemies. This the last couple of levels wars of attrition where you have to fight for every inch often times against enemies who hide and take a couple of shots at you before you can even fire back. The last mission especially just drags on and on and throws countless enemies at you and by the end all I could feel was some slight frustration because the game refused to give me a breather. Also, sometimes I felt like enemy placement and reaction time was rather unfair. Not Shogo levels of unfair, mind you, but sometimes I'd round a corner only to be shot instantly by a machine gun I couldn't see before. And this wouldn't be such a big issue if your crosshair didn't go all over the screen when you got shot making it impossible to shoot back. Quicksave often. In conclusion, it's a flawed game with some pacing issues, but definitely worth buying if you're looking to kill some time or if it's on sale.

Magnum Opus

I put off buying this when I saw it in stores 20 years ago, and wow am I really disappointed in myself for not scrounging up the money for it. It's definitely one of the best WW2 FPS games and most likely the best Medal of Honor PC game. Let me get my gripes with this game out of the way first. 1. When you get hit your camera jumps up and you'll find yourself stunlocked against machine gunners or multiple enemies. It's impossible to counteract it and it's the worst aspect of the game. 2. Maybe a little spoilery but the expansion/DLC "Breakthrough" severly reduces health and ammo pickups. It's a nice challenge, but as a more action packed game I find it annoying that I had to worry if I was going to have enough ammo to finish the missions. 3. I didn't care for the tank missions at all and most of the vehicle missions. 4. Powell can't jump real well. 5. Ladders 6. Couldn't run at the highest resolution in base game. Had to use the second highest otherwise the game would not load. Here are the good things. 1. On some missions you get to go undercover and infiltrate or you can go in guns blazing. It's a nice mixture of pace and puts it ahead of Call of Duty easily. In fact there are some awesome missions. The U-Boat mission is fun even if it was done twice before in MoH and Frontline. It's great every single time. 2. You don't aim down sights (ADS) in this game. This lends itself to an older gameplay style which allows you to move around instead of having to stop to aim which the series moved to. 3. Quick save, quick load, and objective saves. No more redoing the whole level like the previous MoH games. I wish the other MoH games had quick saving. 4. In the "Spearhead" expansion they got Gary Oldman to voice Sgt. Barnes and there are more great missions. 5. Music is great
