Averagly fun- needs more flavor

Fun but I'm not ready to hit the 'BIG YAY' button just yet. After a few games now in the new MMO I would like to give my opinion. Over all I had 'fun' but it's been nothing that has blown me away. I really like the Narrator and the voice work and some of the unique details in the game such as the colonizing new planets screens. -Star Lanes: They work better then I expected they would expecially in terms of fleet/ map stratagy. (Some people passionately love or hate them) -GNN Annoying the robots are irritating and their comedy falls flat in what is meant to be a serious game. (you can turn this off though) -Races I really like the different personalities of the races and their strengths and weaknesses. -Spy Spam In my games anyway the amount of spys given if massive and becomes a feature that is way overblowen and needs to be toned down. -Nice background music, calming, space like, good exploration (could use more stand out tracks though) -The overlay and the menus all help make managing a large empire much easier and less of a chore then in some 4x games and some space games. -The Galactic council screen needs a skip feature instead of watching the same animation that you can't skip though. -500 Turn limits for all games (might be able to increase or turn off I am unsure as of writing this) -Ships are nicely customizatble along with the buildings and tech tree although I feel it could still use a bit more. Other then that I'd say it would be good to add in some more polish and shine to make the game stand out and give it more flavor. The introduction is short and although 'good' isn't anything to write home about- the same feeling while the game is fun kind of speaks for the whole game that way ultimately. Also another thing I dind't like was links to other games like Total Anhiliation in the games menu, not sure why that is there. So over all an average fun game that need more spit and polish to truly start being remarkable.

Master of Orion CTS Review

A modern take on the classic 4x game from the 90's, Master of Orion : Conquer the Stars is a fresh take on the classic games, taking alot of inspiration from MoO2 in particular. Multiple races with different characterisics and different galaxy setups keeps this game fresh each play through and top tier voice acting talent such as John De Lucie and Mark Hamil make for very entertaining gameplay / cutscenes. Minor complaints, Multiplayer mode seems a tad glitchy, and some races are much stronger than others. MP fleet battles are automated rather than played out in real time, which is disappointing. Guess they spent most of the budget on the voice acting talent then lols Overall a fresh take on a classic genre, not perfect but definately fun to play and plenty of replayability. Worth a buy if on sale. Rating 8 / 10 or 4 stars

Master of Orion (remake)

The remake is missing several features that were an important part of the original MoO & MoO2. * No automatic routing of ships. You cannot manufacture ships on several worlds & have them automatically fly to a rallying point. * No capturing of enemy ships. Because of this there is also no scrapping of captured ships to reverse engineer their technology. * No manufacturing option to repeat a build order although this is minor. * No option to refit a single ship. If you just want one ship with a Stellar Converter you have to create an entire class of ship. * Cannot click through repetitive invasion animations. (the interface on the bombing/invasion screen is also poorly laid out) * Ships only travel via warp corridors instead of open space. Once you have the technology to redirect ships in flight you still have to wait for them to reach a star system before they can follow your order even if it is just to return to their starting point. * Fewer options for controlling GNN reports. * No transport of essentials between planets. If a planet cannot produce sufficient food to support its population they will starve even with every agricultural boost in the game. If MoO2 or even MoO were able to take advantage of the technology of modern PCs either would be a much superior game to this.

Fun Game.

I've played this game before and really liked it. Played earlier ones also and liked them too. Don't care about multiplayer. If I want to interact with people, I'll call someone. Lol. Nice way to kill some time.

So so remake of a classic

From a 4x junkie, this game is kinda bland overall. It plays extremely well and fluid on my 3rd gen i5 and 970. Graphics are pretty good. Captures a good bit of the "feel" of MOO. But ultimately falls flat. Tech tree is kinda short and playing as creative is an overwhelming advantage. MOO2 balanced this out better in my opinion. You had to take so many negatives to be a creative race in MOO2. In this edition all it took was choosing low grav for planet pref. I do not like how they did the galaxy with the jump points and such - that gave this game a very "cartoonish" feel and just didn't play well for me - way to simplistic. Commanding a battle has no real strategy. MOO2 was so superior to everything (even stellaris) with strategic space battles. Also the ship building/design is the pits. And the fact you can only build a single titan class ship is mind boggling. With that in mind, the upgrade mechanic is also the pits. It is almost better to just scrap and rebuild the newer design sometimes (aside from loosing experience that was gain of course). In the end though, it was fun for the most part. Newcomers to 4x will find this game very accessable (maybe that was their goal?). However core 4x fans/junkies should stick to Stellaris or even MOO2.
