Failed rebirth
As a veteran of Master of Orion,, this game does not add much at all. Much more fun was playing MOO 2

There’s not much that’s outright wrong with Master of Orion, but there’s not much memorable or endearing about it either. It’s built on a moderately successful but bland execution of the inside-the-box space 4X formula. The moments when its flair for leader characterization and an enjoyably complex combat engine take center stage are the only times anything about it really stands out. There’s definitely enough game here that I wouldn’t turn anyone away from giving it a spin, but I also can’t say you’d be missing anything special by skipping it.

Don't buy this game
The official website has removed the forum. The in-game tutorial can't even get past the first 5 steps without messing up. I cannot locate any discord, any guilded, any forum that can remotely help in any way with any in game questions. I have more fun playing Masters of Orion 2 than this piece of garbage. If they spent more of their money on actually developing a game instead of hiring high priced voice actors, we may have actually had a good game. There is no freaking research point to build a STAR BASE which means you are locked into having only 3 -5 ships as the AI builds an armada I am so desperate to make this game playable that I'm getting the unofficial patch. I don't even care if that breaks the game. Even Stars in Shadow is better than this.

Not recommended
According to the specifications the game is DRM free: No activation or online connection required to play. This is however not true, as you need to install GOG Galaxy to be able to use the multiplayer mode. Since it is not DRM free I advise against it: do not encourage gog to sell crap.

Never got as far as the game because of the EULA. I'm not agreeing to anything that says they can change the agreement at any time, without telling me and by agreeing now I'm also agreeing to any changes they make in the future. They already want to collect all your personal info, who knows what they could sneak in there

Underrated Gem
I'm giving this game 5 stars and the reason is that it can be modded with a handful of mods from the NEXUS that changes it and makes it a different but way better game. If you don't know what that is it's the same website that you mod SKYRIM and FALLOUT 4 from, been using it safely for over a decade for both games, even the Skyrim Special Edition version, which is 64 bit, The Witcher 3, Oblivion, Dragon Age 2, and Fallout 3 to name a few more. There's 5x the Ultimate Balance mod, Unofficial Code Patch are two MUST HAVE mods for this game that just make it incredibly better in every way. I forget what the other 3 are but I use 5 mods total from the Nexus for this game and it's just great.
