Still can't beat old school.
With the flashy re-imagining being sluggish and a Age of Wonders wannabe, and the Caster edition making unpopular changes, I find tweaking the Community patch version the best overall. If you're new to the game, and like to have a very fine amount of control, I heartily recommend it. If you're an old like me, grab it!

One of the bst ever made !
One of the best games that has ever been made,so many different aspects to this game so many spells and just a very good game overall. With the dlc Caster of Magic it adds loads more to the game. Well worth it !!!

A Golden Classic
A must-buy. If you love any of the civilization games, you owe yourself to try this. Bought it upon release as a teenager and I still return to it regularly after more than 20 years. Only logged more hours on other Microprose releases such as Master of Orion 2 and Colonization. Amazing game!

Excellent game
Any game this old that I still play must be a FIVE star game. It was so good when made it is still playable today. It has such detail, options and huge war campaign style maps. This has been one of my best purchases on GOG. Thank you!!!

Classic Civ-like I play yearly
This classic gem is always fun to play and has a ton of re-playability due to the different races, two worlds, and of course magic. There's also enough extra things like random events, caves to "explore", nodes to take advantage of and more. Music is great and memorable, I will never forget some of the tracks. My only annoyance is the usual micro-management of cities that other Civ-likes have but you can let the AI manage it. Hopefully, the AI does not just spam weak units out.
