The best one of the Mafia series.

Yes, Mafia is outdated. Graphics just scream "2002" and the gameplay is not the best. But Mafia proves that to make a great game you don't really need any of those. All it takes is one good and solid story. There is not health regeneration. You will lose unused rounds once you reload. You will be fined for speeding or running a red light. You will run out of fuel (and fast if your gas tank is pierced). You will be challenged. And most impotently - you will enjoy.

NO music

As a kid I owned the CD retail version of Mafia and I loved it. I purely bought this game on GOG for nostalgia. A big part of that nostalgia was the music. The music in this game really set the atmosphere to it and added a lot to it. Taking away the music from this game is like taking away someones soul. If you have access to the cd version I'd highly recommend you experience the game how it was originally intended on its release in 2002. Aside from the issue with the music being removed this is probably one of my favorite games of all time. The game play was fun and the story line is solid. Althrough the combat system (Esepcially melee combat) left something to be desired. I thought it was pretty interesting the game has a combat roll to avoid damage. The one thing I never liked about this game is that you have to play through missions to learn how to steal/drive certain cars.

No Django Reinhardt? For real?

This is my favourite game of all time, and I believe any Slovak or Czech would say the best game of all time. However, without the music, this game is like sex without love. Still enjoyable, but it's just not it. And I am not playing Mafia in this state. I know I can get some of the music back, but not all of it. I respect GOG for all the hard work, but they have to fix this, in order for me to get money out of this masterpiece game. I would seriously love to have this game DRM FREE in my GOG library (I bought the second Mafia on GOG too), and be able to run it right away on Windows 10 or any new OS Microsoft throws right at us. But I can't buy it without music. Django Reinhardt is dead for 67 years, I am sure he won't mind having his music in this re-release.

The godfather of videogames

Mafia City of Lost Heaven is one of the best games I'v ever played all around. The story is superb It's nothing earthshakingly original, the rise and fall of an antihero who starts climbing the ranks of a criminal organization. Yet it's so well narrated that the elements that can be considered generic get totaly overshadowed by the hole. This situations the player get's thrown into, along with very detailed car handling and very sharp shooting mecanics delivers a excepcional experience. You can really belive that you are a 30' gangster shooting your way out of an anbush in a gas station on the middle of nowhere or speeding away from the police. In conclusion, great characters , story and gameplay make this game a must play for anyone who enjoys 3rd person shooters or is a fan of great stories.

Attention potential Spyware / Malware

2K has retroactively changed their EULA. Now they collect literally anything on your computer (including but not exclusively visited websites or payment information for example). Not sure if they are also installing rootkit like software in the gog version like they do in non gog versions. gog should consider banning all 2k games because I dont think that their EULA complies with gogs vision...
