Description
Your mission: colonize new worlds on distant planets. As the Mission Commander, you and the Mechanized Assault & Exploration (M.A.X.) force under your command are the first ones in. Mining stations, power plants, tactical combat vehicle factories, habitats – it's up to you to plan and construct them.
The entire new colony? You create it. The resources you find there? Control them. Enemies? Crush 'em! And there will be enemies. You're not the only Mission Commander trying to colonize the planets. You'll have to push yourself to the limit to survive the ultimate showdown in strategic warfare. It's espionage, heavy artillery, offensives, counter offensives and intelligence – all with maximum consequences.
At its core, M.A.X. is about resource-gathering, building, and tactical combat. The game offers more than 50 land, sea, and air units, most of which can be upgraded to improve their armor, speed, and range. You can play as one of eight different factions with different advantages for each one. Discover new scenarios, units and more with the sequel - M.A.X. 2. Now both games bundled together!
A level of complexity unseen in contemporary strategy games
Choose either real-time or turn-based game mode to fit your personal preference
Play as one of 8 human clans and use dozens upon dozens of land, sea and air units
It's the most exciting multiplayer experience ever. Played it a thousand time with my friends, but it inevitably crashes when big armies start to appear. So we finally gave up...
But then we found out about MAXR ( max reloaded), a max clone, multiplayer only over TCP/IP without the bugs.
Learn the basics with the old max singleplayer missions etc, then play maxr with your friends. I can assure you, it 'll be the best money you ever spent on a game!
Didn't see the consistent crashes one user reported. It does crash, but rarely and a simple restart and reload of the last autosaved game and you are back where you were. I have played through all levels and even ran some tests where I bottled up the computer on his island and then built an insane number of units, and it handled it all just fine. As for the game, MAX is outstandingly good. MAX2 is also quite good if you stick to good old turn based play.
1 Tank, if you put it on the right place at the right time, can destroy nearly an entire enemy base. That's the fun of turn based. It's not quantity, it's quality that wins at the end.
We are recruiting people to play online, search for us on Facebook Group called Mechanized Assault and Exploration. We can play the original using dosbox and Tunngle (similiar to Hamachi but better).
How many years i wanted to get my hands on this game, i remember when it came out, i love it.
Funny thing is, that really loved the base building element in it.
Child memories, good old times.
But now, when i wanted to play it, i cannot just too old.
You will have fun if you can past low rez and low rez. :P
Cheers
I have to say that C&C should have been like this.
A very good game that requires a much larger map.
In average, I say that for its time... 5 stars.
