A grower, not a show-er
It really took me a while to get into this one. The concept (an upside-down idle RPG with a central mechanic not too unlike [SPOILER] Candy Box [END SPOILER]) and all the rave reviews drew me in, but it did not keep me; I did not feel the addiction factor like so many others apparently have. It took me coming back to it a few times to get a feel for things, and I think I know why now. It is a dreary game, isn't it? The screen is mostly black, and even after you fill it it's still quite dark. There's also the writing which is, while quality, bleak as all getout. I wouldn't call the game ugly like some others have, but one can see how, in these dark days, one might be initially turned off. What saves it for me is the way the game evolves as play continues and you unlock more of the camp and therefore more mechanics (again, not too unlike... you know). Once the player builds a couple of things, the game really opens up. There is that initial monotony and grind, though, so minus one star. But all in all I would recommend it to those who like idle games and just anyone looking for a neat concept to wrap one's brain around.

Worth every penny!
How can a game with graphics from 1984 and such simply controls be that good? - The 8-bit soundtrack rocks ass in 2022! Normally 8-bit pieces of music cover existing songs, this soundtrack makes people cover 8 bit music. - The gameplay loop is addicting, mechanics are deep, but not that deep once you understood the principles and strategies, making it a game that encourages thinking without breaking the flow. - Balance and difficulty is kinda ding and dang. It is demanding at the start, but as soon as you have grown your village and crafted your supplies, you can become unstoppable. This motivates to progress and plays fully into the powerfantasy of the storyline, yet the challenge is kinda gone in the end. - Mentioning the story, it is neither good nor bad, but I did expect much less from the character writing, which is kinda neat. - Transparency and documentation of mechanics are mostly present (One exception: stamina-mechanic) - UI and menu are solid, you get to anything fast without the need for hotkeys, should be a standard for triple A games, when a group of 4 developers can get this done for a game that looks from another century. That said: Don't get turned off by the graphics! Give it a try and you will probably have a very good time!

Great formula
This game is similar to Darkest Dungeon...it sets you on a grind, from start to finish, where you fight, level up, upgrade your camp, fight some more, die... a lot, but the main loop is tunned to be engaging and fun. There is a story and it is mysterious and well thought out for the game it is. The graphics and soundtrack are 8 bit alike ( NES) , so for all those retro fans, this is heaven. I find myself liking much more these kind of games than all those AAA fancy shining turds. So buy it and have clean simple fun.

Nice concept
Small game with simple mechanics to understand, but can quickly consume your time if you begin to try different stats builds and decks. There's a necromancer too. Give it a try
