Classic game with classic issues

I really enjoyed playing this title as a blast from the past. It features a beautiful world with some clever ideas and a compelling story. Unfortunately many of the puzzles seem to be complete trial and error with little to no feedback. The in-game hint system falls a bit short in sections where you could get stuck under certain conditions. The game is also a bit buggy; it locked up on an infinite loading sequence in several places. The ScummVM log window also doesn't close automatically when exiting the game. It's also really easy to accidentally delete your progress by clicking on the New Game button. This button is really close to the Save Game button and it doesn't ask for confirmation. I recommend playing this if you like to be immersed in a magical world, and also to use a guide anytime you get a bit stuck. Because the puzzles have little logic to them, it isn't all that rewarding to find the solution.

My memories of its difficulty were valid

I remember playing this way back and thinking how difficult it was. I figured we were adventure game novices at the time and just didn't have the feel for the game logic. So here we are, years later, and I still think this game is unbelievably hard. In many instances I had no clue what to do or why. There were so many puzzles with no indications as to what to do (or I missed most of them). The game had some good moments and IMO could have been better with a few clues. I am not fan of 'try all options' and hope you eventually hit the right one. That is boring and frustrating. Glad I replayed it but will admit that many times I had to resort to either a video or text walkthrough.

One of the best Point and Click games.

This game has it all: interesting story and characters, great music and nice graphics. It does suffer from important items blending into the environment, and sometimes overly confusing puzzles. But those are not exclusive to this title, nor are they especially bad here. I recommend it!

Blast from our past

The memories of this game was great! However, there were some missing animation. Granted that it is an emulator. It was sometimes buggy in places. There were a couple of things wrong when I played through this game. The first being that the missing scene in this game is visiting the Dark Beings layer on a Submarine. It was suppose to show the entrance scene, but it wasn't there at all. The other issue was the dark being never showed up at the very end leaving the player stranded. Almost everything was pretty good but if those things were fixed. I would have given it a higher rating. 3 stars was just how this missing a couple of things.

Great old game but a tad buggy

I was so excited to see this game online because I've been wanting to play again it for years. I remembered certain aspects of it so there were things I did because of my memory I didn't follow the dark being into the first portal so I could grab house items but so much I had completely forgot. The only major issue I ran into is the Birdman took the sub throttle at the beginning and I was never able to retrieve it. Supposedly he's supposed to drop it when you see Liryl but he never did and I didn't have a convenient save file so I had to start over and speed run to where I was at. It is definitely a lot of trial and error but I play so many hidden object and puzzle games that it wasn't an absolute pain to me. It took me 6 hours to finish and that is including the annoying restart. I had to look at a walkthrough twice: once for the throttle thing but another time for the sub navigation which was so obvious after it told me how to work it properly. Overall it was fun to go back and play this game so many years later. Make several save files in case you get a glitch like me. It is an old game.
