It's absurd that this game hasn't been updated. Why is it labeled as having "full controller support" when it doesn't recognize my 8BitDo controller? None of my inputs register. This is unacceptable in 2025.
Lego Starwars: The complete saga is pretty much the ultimate version of Lego SW. It features everything the original two games had and now with even more to do.
While i don't own this on GOG, i do own this on STEAM (back when i used it). LSWTCS does NOT function properly on modern hardware; If your monitor is higher than 60hz, or if your graphics card is waaaay newer than what is supported, the game will not run at all. This issue wasn't fixed until Indiana Jones came out on PC. I have tested the GOG version via a friend of mine who bought it and it also has the same issue.
I don't recommend the PC version at all unless you plan to play this on legacy hardware. I ran this game on my Legacy XP machine with era-correct hardware and it plays great.
A modern rig... not so much... at all.
keep that in mind, otherwise i recommend it.
Great game for Lego and for Star Wars fans, but has two console features that are a very serious flaws while playing on a PC:
- controls
You really want controller to play. Yes, you can use keyboard but you will break your hands while doing that. Oh, and you can't use mouse to move.
- 2 player game
Unless you have 2 controllers, you will need to share keyboard. Doable if you are 7-yo, but when your hands grow bigger it is really hard to do.
And then, if you want to play it alone... well, technically you can, but it is all designed for 2 characters. AI does its best to control 2nd character but fails 95% of the time.
All in all, a good game that I would want to play, but can't.
Good if you like item collection or star wars. Probably a little bit too easy. Probably not worth $20 unless you're gonna play co-op with two people that are really into the game, or you know you already like the game.
Controls are a big complaint. For one player it's no problem, just map movement to WASD and the other stuff to the numpad and it's as good as any other PC game. The only time WASD controls are awful is during the top-down flying combat levels because it re-maps forward thrust based on which direction you're moving, but you can manage to fudge through them if you go slow. Using a controller is better but not necessary.
The game is really designed for two players. It can be played to completion with one, but your in-game companion is dead weight (and often gets in the way) and all combat is boring. I'm not sure if you can collect all the extras with just one player. Doubt it. if you want two players you need two control devices. Sharing a keyboard would suck.
Episode I-III and IV-VI were originally two different games. I-III is faster paced with more combat, IV-VI has longer levels and a lot more puzzles. I think I-III was the better of the two games. The puzzles aren't that rewarding to solve and sometimes you get aggravated with a long level, grinding through the same basic puzzle scenarios over and over again. A better single-player combat system and more variation in enemies would have made this game a lot more fun.
It is nice to be able to play through all levels with all characters. They added extra content not in the other two games as well.
It`s a rather elaborate & saturated game, especially at that time. It was a good idea from devs to unite all episodes in one game & optimize it a little bit. In the game there are some original levels for old-school gamers. At the other point the story is well known & you will feel boring in your try to complete them all as gameplay is a jogtrot especially at the 3-4 episodes.
