Still the Best of the LEGO Games

Traveller's Tales (or rather, Tt Games as they are depicted here) has been on LEGO film tie-in duty for quite a while... it's been about a decade and a half now! Yet, I feel that their original game in the series, LEGO Star Wars, was their best work, and they simply never topped it. Its sequel (The Original Trilogy) was pretty close to the mark, but every LEGO game since then has fallen short in my eyes. While I can appreciate minor mechanical changes, they just never nailed the formula as they did here. Look at the LEGO series now, and you've got straight-from-the-film dialogue rips, single-movie entries, and other nonsense that sadly reminds me that we'll never see an entry top LEGO SW... the original Episodes I-III are still, and probably always will be, the best of their LEGO games. The good news is, this basically lets you play those originals! There have been a few additions here and there, but overall it's the same game we played almost 15 years ago! Better yet, you'll be happy to know that The Original Trilogy is also accounted for; this re-release of the two Xbox/PS2 original games simply packages them in a 720p+ 60 FPS bundle on 7th gen consoles and PC. Regardless of whether you prefer Episode 1-3 or 4-6, the LEGO games are a refreshing and highly inclusive series for all audiences. As much as I love Max Payne and Resident Evil... with a flood of M rated titles inbound, the golden era of platformers such as Ratchet & Clank/Jak & Daxter long gone, and a cringe-inducingly edgy M-rated wannabe soiling the name of Beyond Good & Evil, it's good to see all 6 chapters of LEGO SW return for a GOG release. If you're looking for something to play in co-op with a younger sibling, the humorous and genuinely creative approach of these retold SW films is an incredibly easy recommendation to make. Just plug in two controllers, grab a [root] beer (family friendly!), and have some classic co-op fun/frustration-- this game doesn't show its age at all.

Lego + StarWars = Big kids dream

The game covers the original movies, the prequels and has a whole lot of stuff in it that a modern lego game would nickel and dime you with via a season pass, console exclusive content and not included with the season pass character packs. Every time I sit down and play it, I think why can't the new lego games be more like this everything in one package. This is non spoken so expect slightly corny slapstick but not in a bad way, This was clearly a game made by people who loved star wars and not a cheap attempt to make fun of it or its fans. It is a fun game for the young, and the young at heart

Makes a good game even better

LSW1's biggest "flaw" was it's release date. It was designed for oldschool gamepads with flight stick style thumb stick and no analog triggers. Modern controllers just won't work well with it. LSW2 was a much better game than LSW1 and corrected most of it's flaws. Yes, they messed up the installer by giving the DVD the wrong name. You had to download a fix in order to install the game. But the game itself was great. I love it's slap stick humor. LSWTCS combines these 2 great games into a game and you could say, by doing so it added support for modern controllers and wide screen resolution to LSW1. The complete package is a great game which should not be missed. The one thing I miss are the HUBs from the old games, they were nicely done. It still has some tecnical issues however. Some people claim that it has no controller support, which is not true. I DID have the problem that a controller was not working, but after a Windows restart it worked again. Could be caused by the changes Microsoft did to directinput.dll between Windows 8 and 10. Also, on my PC with an i5 4670 and a GTX1070 it is unplayable from time to time, mostly when many many studs (character studs, anyone?) are on the screen, keeps crashing sometimes. That was WAY better on my old PC 10 when the game first came out. The best chance to play it unintrrupted is to start it after system boot and not open any other programs like web browsers. I still haven't figured out what causes the crashes. This might also be an issue with Windows, giving the game a too low priority, dunno. Once it crashes, it blocks the screen completely, can't change focus to the task manager. That's some old style DirectX programming we see here. I solved that problem by using dgVoodoo2 which now supports DX9 and play in windowed mode. I was thinking of only giving 3 stars because of the tecnical issues, but then again I found myself having a lot of fun playing the game, so 4 points it is.

Prolly the best LEGO game out there.

This version is quite overhauled compilation of the previous two. It's really great so far and I don't see a bug that appeared in the original 1-3 game. Get it on a sale and you're good. Anyway, if you get stuck in 1-4 race like I was because the other guy is far ahead, try pressing "up" key ALONG WITH "jump". I got it in the first try this way...

One of the best Lego game

Still, after 10 years, this is one of the best Lego game. There is only one mistake - there is no split-screen, but still everyone should play this game.
