Legend of Grimrock is a dungeon crawling role playing game with an oldschool heart mated with modern execution. A group of prisoners are sentenced to certain death by exile to the secluded Mount Grimrock for vile crimes they may or may not have committed. Unbeknownst to the captives, the mountain is riddled with ancient tunnels, dungeons and tombs built by crumbled civilizations of days long past. If they ever wish to see daylight again and reclaim their freedom, the ragtag group of prisoners must form a team and descend through the mountain, level by level.
The game brings back an oldschool challenge with highly tactical real-time combat and grid-based movement, devious hidden switches and secrets as well as deadly traps and horrible monsters. Legend of Grimrock puts an emphasis on puzzles and exploration, and the wits and perception of the player are more important tools than even the sharpest of swords would be. And if you are a hardened dungeon crawling veteran and you crave an extra challenge, you can arm yourself with a stack of grid paper and turn on the Oldschool Mode, which disables the luxury of the automap! Are you ready for some classic dungeon-crawling first person perspective party-based RPG action? Are you ready to venture forth and unravel the mysteries of Mount Grimrock?
Use the Dungeon Editor to build entirely new adventures and challenges for other players to solve!
Explore a vast network of ancient tunnels, discover secrets, and find a way to survive in the perilous dungeons of Mount Grimrock.
Cast spells with runes, craft potions with herbs, and fight murderous monsters with a wide variety of weapons.
Create a party of four characters and customize them with different races, classes, skills, and traits.
Pure-blooded dungeon crawling game with grid-based movement and thousands of squares, riddled with hidden switches, pressure plates, sliding walls, floating crystals, forgotten altars, trapdoors, and more.

Thank you for bringing back alive an old genre. True gamers dream, far from the new conventions, the cinematic games, the mindless entertainment for masses.
Congratulations to the team for the good work.
I foresight for you a bright future as developers !
The indie scene is alive and kicking !
Like you say in Finnish : Paljon kiitoksia !!
After 7 hours of playtime, I must say this is really great game. I hope that guys from Almost human will continue with their work.
Just one thing, it's more like Dungeon Master or Black Crypt. I slightly prefered games more like Ishar or Stonekeep. So If they develop a sequel, please add some NCP, shops and maybe cities and landscapes.
As a big fan of Dungeon Master and Chaos Strikes Back on the good old Atari ST, I must say I've hardly put this game down since I purchased it. Even though the graphics are smooth and modern, the feel of the game is a classic as ever. I love it!
Great Game, I started playing ultima underworld on dosbox a while back but had an inventory bug and stopped playing. This game has filled that void.
I love survival horror games like silent hill & anything looking glass especially system shock 2. Any game were you have to survive and can manipulate the environment in crazy ways. I like these games because they give you a tangible experience in a world with rules and dynamics.
Games today seem to distract me from the core experience they tend to make a flashy advertising gimmick game play mechanics that should be standard.
This game is by a small team that have no doubt in there mind about what they are creating. It's not a perfect game, no game is, no art in any medium can be perfect. Yet, this game is a tangible interesting experience that has actual game play & oozes a brooding atmosphere. I have not completed the game yet so this is more of a comment on game design and the industry then a review.
Yet, I don't care this game makes me happy it restores my faith in new games and thats worth 5 stars in my book.
At first I had initial hesitation toward whether to buy Grimrock or not, as I have never played any dungeon crawler before and was unsure if I would like the game. I overcame the hesitation and decided to gamble and I'm glad that I did. I haven't completed it but from what I have played so far I have throughly enjoyed. Grimrock forces you to think about what you are to do next as well as looking at every wall just to find that switch which will reveal treasures.
