Description
Lands of Lore: The Throne of Chaos takes you on an adventure: save the dying king and stop the evil sorceress Scotia’s Dark Army. Your band of heroes will travel through a vast fantasy word full of mysterious places, dangerous monsters, and hidden treasures in a quest to find a way to defeat the immortal evil enchantress and save the world.

In Lands of Lore: Guardians of Destiny you enter a world of intense beauty and mortal danger where your slightest move can trigger cataclysmic events, miraculous escapes, or lethal battles. See magical cities rise out of great oceans. Enter the musty caverns of Dracoid ruins. Discover gruesome altars and witness secret ceremonies never before seen by humans.

Lands of Lore 1+2 is a solid piece of cRPG history. It was a time of transition from 2D to 3D, from floppy disks to CDs. New technologies allowed things like live actors in 3D environment, full voice-overs, good sound quality, and CGI sequences. All this was used in Lands of Lore 2 to create vast, rich world that is anything but boring or ordinary.

Golden Age of Video Gaming

Remember that time when PC was a loosy gaming platform ? Remember that time when the greatest battle in the universe did not oppose Sony and Microsoft, or Sega and Nintendo, but Commodore and Atari ? Remember that time when you cried tears of blood by watching your best bud playing Dungeon Master in glorious 64 colors and lovely sounds while you could only play pathetic 4-colors games with a PC beeper ? Well, if you don't, you haven't known the 80s - and you can't understand what a revenge games such as Lands of Lore have been at the beginning of the 90s. We PC gamers didn't have Dungeon Master (yet) ? Well, first we had Eye of the Beholder trilogy, and then came this. The most gorgeous graphics ever rendered in 256 colors, full speech and lovely music, and a HUGE game that instantly became a classic. The way everything is told is just brilliant, the cinematics are lovely even to this day; in a word, the MAGIC is still working. Yeah, this was a long-awaited revenge, but how sweet it has been. And the amiga and atari ST gamers ? Well, that's the day they stopped laughing. Haven't heard of them ever since.

Golden Age of Gaming right here

Lands of Lore 2 was a huge part of my childhood. I don't remember how many times my brother and I played this up and down. Love the gameplay, love the story, love the characters, love the freedom of choise, love the look and variety of the world and items, love the abundance of secrets. Hell, I even loved the voice acting in the German version, though it's often really oddly timed due to the specific format of the conversations. Plattforming was awful, though. And varying difficulty. Ah, the glorious golden age of gaming when you were allowed to explore a dangerous and fascinating world at your own pace without constant hand-holding and objective markers. And now even without the maddening need to constantly switch CDs. Thank you for bringing this back to me dear GOG team. This game was the very reason why I came here in the first place. God I miss Westwood.

Fantastic and Humorous FPRPG

Though I haven't played the first Lands of Lore, the 2nd was one of the first 3D games I ever got to play on a computer. The gameplay was fantastic and the story was packed with humor up until the very end. I have been looking forward to this release ever since the EA deal was announced. While I hope for the 3rd one to be released, I won't get my hopes up due to the number of bugs it contained, but for now I'm totally happy with being able to play Lands of Lore 2 again!

LOL 1 Review

I just finished the game and watching end credits as I write this review. I loved the game, it was an EOB experience without all the fustrations. Dungeons are well done and the puzzles are fun. If you like dungeons crawlers then LOL1 is a must. Now off to Grimlock. P.S. Keep an herb with you till the end :)

One Hell of A Leap.

I got this particularly because of the first game. I really love games with a first person view, and a party of characters. After playing the first game for a bit, I can safely say it alone would be worth the investment. The second game throws a curveball and introduces a new gameplay style. Is it still worth it? Oh yeah it is! Lands of Lore 2 is also a fantastic game, and gives you directions unlike the first. That leads me to my complaint. Lands of Lore 1 has aged poorly with direction and you might need a walkthrough for some parts due to the game leaving you no clues. That being said, these games are fun as hell, and I'd recommend picking them up.
