Lamplight City - my review
Having just finished the complete game, I feel qualified to now give a review of the game. Overall, I enjoyed Lamplight City. Some positives: Terrific in-game soundtrack (also available as a download I would recommend getting), wonderful art assets, good voice acting, and an interesting setting. As others have mentioned, puzzle solving involves an element of persistence, which I generally enjoyed. At times I thought I was stuck, but revisiting a previously consulted character revealed new dialogue options, which I appreciated. My main critique of Lamplight City is that it is neither a British Victorian era story nor an American one, and the dialogue - and characters - are frequently modern. I would have preferred a more authentic Victorian era mystery, but even as it is, I find there is plenty in Lamplight City for me to recommend it, for fans of 1990's era point-and-clicks and modern games alike. 4/5
