Well-told, pretty, and moody.
Despite some minor usability issues (cannot remap keyboard controls, an enforced single save and the annoying habit of minimising itself whenever it loses focus), this is a finely-crafted game. The story is compelling and well told, hitting noir tropes in the right way without devolving into excessive twists or overcomplication. The investigation feels organic and meaningful. The only niggle I would have is that sometimes you are unsure where you need to go, but you're prevented form wandering away from the plot so you know you'll find the right place eventually. The gorgeous presentation helps sell the setting and the story, using a mixture of exquisitely animated pixel art and lighting effects to set the mood. A lot happens in the story without any of it feeling rushed in the playing time it has. It would suffer if extra busywork was added. It uses its moments of tension sparingly but very well.
