Become a hero in a fantasy world of fearless knights, evil mages, wise kings and beautiful princesses. Explore the land, command armies and accomplish quests for your king to reap great rewards... Or suffer devastating defeats.
The gameplay is divided into two major sections: adventure mode and tactics mode. While playing in adventure mode you control your hero in real-time, seeking various treasures, fighting monsters and accomplishing quests tasked to you by the local stewards. Once in tactics mode you assume the role of a war chief, leading your troops in tactical turn-based combat.
Battles take place on land or sea, in dungeons or castles or even in certain items! The hero himself doesn't participate in the combat, but can assist his troops by casting spells or summoning different creatures.
Absolutely addictive gameplay closely resembling the famous Heroes of Might & Magic series
A challenging, but at the same time familiar and intuitive, combat system
Charming, well-designed locations, full of subtle details
King's Bounty is similar and better than Heroes of Might and Magic. If you've never played a HoMM game, then download the Kings Bounty demo to find out what makes this game awesome.
i have always had trouble with might and magic games, they are quiet challenging. however, the first part at least of this game is just right, easy to get into without a lot of reading the manual. I thought combat was very fun and the enemys died in a satisfying way. purhaps the funnest moment i played was the battle with the wearwolf, took me several armys and several trys to get all his bodyguards. very fun game. i reccomend it especially to fans of HOMM
I really enjoyed this game. Like Age of Wonders and Disciples, this game is about wandering around on an overmap, then fighting turn-based tactical battles on a grid-based battlefield. Unlike those games, King's Bounty never takes itself too seriously and the cartoony graphics are enjoyable to look at while you explore. Combat can be hard if you are unprepared, but there are skills you can get that let you gauge the strength of enemy forces from afar before you engage. If you're not strong enough there's plenty of other things you can do in the meantime to level up and increase the size of your army.
There's not much of a tutorial, you might have to restart a few times to figure it out. Thankfully the beginning is quick and easy.
Lots of fun, and well worth a few bucks.
There are hundreds of reviews saying that this game is an Hero's of Might and Magic clone. No my friends Hero's of might and magic is a "clone" of this series. This is the original format from which Hero's of Might and Magic was born which is why it is so recognizable to people who enjoy the more famous reincarnation of this series. Personally I think the original King's bounty is better than this remake but it's none the less fun.
First of all, i have seen many reviews that claim this to be a HOMM clone or a King's Bounty remake. This game is neither clone nor remake but a sequel to the original King's Bounty. Game installed flawlessly on my laptop and runs well with only drops in frame rate when attempting to equip items. haven't played enough to give away the entire story but at least it didn't start off with a quest that you have to complete in a set amount of time or lose the game entirely as in the original. Glad to see that they gave skill trees and inventory to help customize your hero. I thoroughly enjoyed the original on both Sega Genesis and the Amiga 500, but hated the grid of code you needed to resume playing on the genesis, which hardly ever worked anyway. That being said this release is quite refreshing to me, glad GoG posted it even though i wouldn't qualify this release as an *old* game, thank you.
