Kingdom: New Lands - Skull Island
Kingdom New Lands now brings a 6th island to explore and develop. This will present the greatest challenge never-before-seen in Kingdom, and will put your every skill to the test. Can you survive the nights and be the ruler that your people need?

Tales spread of far off isles with mysteries waiting to be discovered. Rulers will need all the strength of their subjects to sail away and find new kingdoms in these New Lands.

Kingdom: New Lands builds upon the award-winning gameplay and mystery of Kingdom by introducing an abundance of new content to the IGF-nominated title while maintaining the simplicity and depth that legions of monarchs have come to experience and enjoy. Travel to the New Lands and welcome the deluge of new mounts, merchants, and vagrants that call these isles home, but be wary of the new obstacles that threaten your arrival -- for not just the greedy creatures block your way but even the environment itself can defeat you.

Be brave, ruler, and fight to the bitter end, lest these New Lands conquer you instead.

Beautiful and fun, but some annoyances

It's a lovely game. Beautiful graphics and music, elegant controls (all done with three keys), and fun to explore and gradually work things out. I'm glad I bought this. However! There are a number of elements that aren't clear from the gameplay, so working them out could cost many failed games. Also elements that obviously do something, but it's not much fun making sense of it from limited information. Annoying: - Catapults can be moved forward, but not back (if the protective wall is destroyed). That makes no sense in game, and can lead to fail situations. - I wasted money on statues with no idea what they did. Likewise I bought maps at a crossroad but it didn't change the map visible in the pause menu. With things like this, you try it once, but if it doesn't seem to do anything you won't waste money on it in future games. - The game can sometimes lead to slow attrition ones where you will lose, but it might take an hour or so. That can happen when recruiting camps are far away (sometimes on the other side of a portal), so anyone you recruit will probably be attacked before they reach your castle. - It turns out there are teleporters. I had no idea. I used them to spy sometimes, but it didn't make it clear that another button press would teleport me to the spy location, so I never did that. - A major annoyance that isn't explained in the game: sometimes cutting down a single tree can destroy a vital resource such as the merchant, or a recruiting camp. It took me ages to realise that was happening, and it still didn't make sense in-game. It can make the game unwinnable, and should be explained somehow. - Only by reading a wiki did I find out that my horse will eat grass.

Overly Limited

No matter how many times you start a new King/Queen, you'll have this "Ghost" forcing you not to travel "too far" from the base, forcing you to hit a glass wall, even if there's a chest full of coins just a few steps past it. To top that off, the AI for the troops is really random. At first, it seemed that every other archer/builder would go to the other side of the base, but then you'll notice that a builder on the far left will start running to the right and one on the right will run to the left, so the wall don't get built in time due to the distance traveled and the archers are all killed because they'll take "cover" behind the unfinished wall instead of the perfectly fine one a few steps behind them. I've also has islands with no Trader. Not ones where I destroyed his camp, but ones where he was never there to begin with, which assures your game will end with a lack of funds. Very bad balance, horribly AI. 1 Star.

Fantastic OST and art. Not for everyone.

Pros: + beautiful pixel graphics, + relaxing, good ost, + not too complicated UI, Cons: - infinite mobs, combined with lack of main goal, equal a good amount of frustration, - trial and error gameplay, - very simple UI (player is unable to cancel orders once they are given).

Has Potential If The Developer Fixes It

This game could have been really great, but it's very clear that the developer didn't take the time to get the a.i. right, or work out all of the bugs. It's hard to explain how much of a mess this game is, because it seems like it works fine when you start playing it, but the problem comes in with the procedurally generated levels, and HORRIBLE a.i. controlling the characters. I played this game for hours only to get soft-locked over and over again. I finally made it to level 3 (after overcoming many janky issues), only to play for another couple of hours and then got my ship stuck at a enemy portal with absolutely no way to progress. I did everything I could to get the ship moving again, but no matter what I tried, nothing worked. It would be great if the devs allowed you to control tasks, or send the workers to a specific location, but unfortunately it's all random ... and it DOESN'T WORK. It feels like the devs have a great idea in their heads, but didn't quite know how to implement it. I ended up giving up on the game, but I'm willing to go back to it if they fix it. I hope the devs knows that I refuse to buy any more games from them until they fix this one.

It's crazy

...because I do not know why I keep coming back playing this game. it is the music? it is the pixelating art which I really enjoy? it is its symplicity? Definitely worth my money!
