A sophisticated shooter laced with gallows humor. Killing Time is no shallow grave. Its depth is well-conceived. Puzzle solving and strategic thinking are placed at a premium. The visceral violence is complemented by paranormal graphics and a super(natural) storyline. Killing Time is a fright-fest for the true aficionado of first-person corridor mayhem.
OST in MP3 format is included! (Check inside the folder called "Bonus")
Features:
Listen to the remembrances of the 7 video-real apparitions and ghostly guests. They offer clues as to what past heinous acts actually transpired in the cursed mansion.
Look up and down - turn around with a complete 360 view. The three-dimensional mansion offers outdoor areas, staircases and intricately detailed ceilings and floors.
The original music makes this old haunt strongly inviting, eh? But beware. Every room, every passage in the estate holds dreadful dangers.
Enjoy continuous gameplay with no load time between areas.
Killing Time was released in 1995 for the 3DO before being ported to the PC by Logicware in November, 1996. For those of you unfamiliar, the 3DO had a controller that was akin to the three-button Megadrive/Genesis pad with shoulder buttons and two function buttons instead of one. Playing on a PC, it's easy to tell this was a quick and dirty port. Most suspect is the fact that the game takes away turning/sidestep control from the turn keys to sidestep, and the game lacks a true mouse-look, something both Duke Nukem 3D (February 1996) and Quake (June 1996) had. It's best to use a retro-style USB controller, like Hyperkin's Scout or GN6 (Make sure they're the USB versions, as they also make versions for the SNES and Genesis respectively). Then use JoyToKey or a similar program to map the keyboard keys. After that, you'll have an enjoyable, if a bit basic, 90s FPS.
Really want to like this game (great effects), but the controls for this renders it unplayable.
Tried setting up this game with xpadder + xbox controller, and it's really clunky! You just can't control the player as well as you want to!
A very methodically paced FPS with an engine that's slightly worse than Doom... you sort of velcro onto walls as you're trying to pass by. Arrow keys to move and turn, hold alt to strafe. Periodic in-world FMVs of mobsters is pretty much the only innovation here. Runs okay but forces 640x480/fullscreen, no apparent way to capture the game in OBS for "content creators." Some freedom of exploration but automap is comically zoomed in to the point of being worthless.
Just nothing in there to justify putting up with the archaic engine.
