Fantastic Sequel
Excellent continuation of the first game, though that is to say, play Kathy Rain first, it helps provide major context.

Challenging without any the frustration
Many will claim that this game is too easy, I'd say that you can't be a imbecile to get through it but you probably won't ever get hopelessly lost if you are reasonably intelligent. The puzzles are very well balanced, perhaps the best I've ever seen in any adventure game. It's challenging without being frustrating, which many adventure games never succeed at. It only took me 3 days {on and off} to beat but I wasn't disappointed, I made it an effort to power through because the puzzles were so well designed I was invested. The achievements are hilarious again, (As they were in the first game, if you tried goofy things) I got an achievement for trying to tazer a dead body back to life. I'd replay this game start to finish, just to try the most out-landish things and get an achievement for it. I love the achievements in this series because they are often hilarious. The feature to ask about items in your inventory or show them results in often interesting puzzle solutions or funny responses from those you show random things. The story shows us a flawed, ego-centric, self-serving, self-centered Kathy, who we expected to see grow, and she does, but we're also asked to simply accept her for who she is. The story features a few broken characters who are approached with empathy and understanding. The story ventures deeper into Kathy's own psyche so that she's understandable and so that we can empathize with her. The super-natural woo is better incorporated in this sequel and it seems less jarring. The super-natural in this sequel feels more like an artistic vision, that was intentional and well crafted, focused over the first game. (I'm thinking for comparison, how Romero zombie films aren't just about zombies, but something much deeper under the surface.) The game's subtext isn't difficult to deciepher necessarily but it can still be peeled back like layers of a onion. (Mental health themes...) The graphics are beautiful, what you'd expect... Good game.

A direct sequel that didn't disappoint
After playing Kathy Rain Director's Cut, I was left with an ambivalent sensation. The old good vibes from when I palyed Kathy Rain many years ago were still there: the somewhat creepy atmosphere, the light (but not trivial) puzzles, and the polemic final act. However I found the new additions superfluous in the best case, and boring in the worst. But the new ending was now canon, and I felt like I had to play this revision before starting with the sequel. And I was fearing that these questionable design choices would reflect in Kathy Rain 2. Luckily, my fears could not be more unfounded. Kathy Rain 2 might start a bit slow, with too much text and lore to read about a serial killer who has taken the lives of 5 victims and is keeping the police on their toes, but it slowly increases its pace as we disentangle the mystery behind these murders and the connection to the events in the first game. By the second half of the game I was completely hooked and wanted to know how the whole drama was going to end. The story takes part now in a urban environment, but it does not forget the creepiness and esoteric elements of the first part and includes a couple of jump scares in the mix for good measure. The game has one of the most beautiful pixel art scenarios I've ever seen in a graphic adventure, full of animations, life and character. I could not help but just look at the details of many of them, not to mention the transition between scenarios, with a gorgeous animated Kathy riding her signature motorbike towards the camera. Puzzlewise we find more or less the same quality as in the previous title, maybe a bit less inspired, but fair and reasonable (with the exception of the toolbox puzzle, an exogenous extravaganza, which I am willing to forget). The best I can say about Kathy Rain 2 is that, if you have liked the first game, you are going to enjoy this one. And that is an accomplishment not many game series have achieved.

Fun game, puzzles on the easier side
Story was pretty good. It was a proper sequel to the first game. Puzzles were decent. I do wish that I could have pet Mildred when she was sleeping, though :)

One of the best adventure games ever
I absolutely love this game. The original game had a special place in my heart since I first played it, but this sequel even surpasses it: - Puzzles are always logical and closely connected to the narrative - Gripping detective/supernatural horror story with a strong personal connection to Kathy - Loveable characters that you really feel for - Probably the most beautiful pixel art and animation that I have ever seen in any game period - with lighting effects, reflections, weather and wind effects, fantastic close-ups If you are into classic point & click adventure games in a detective setting and don't mind some supernatural elements, get it. You won't be disappointed.
