Description
Thousands of years ago the great civilizations of Shangri-La, El Dorado, and Atlantis had vanished. Behind their mysterious disappearance lies a legend of power and destruction that will ultimately determine the future of humanity. As Gage Blackwood, Agent #5 of the Temporal Security Agency, you will travel through time, assume multiple identities, and weave your way through an intricate web of puzzles. Hidden within these lost worlds lies the key to mankind's survival.

Journeyman Project 3 is a worthy installment of the franchise. A fascinating story, memorable characters, and puzzles that are both fun and intuitive are only the tip of an iceberg of what this game has to offer. The third installment features gameplay improvements like a first person perspective view, and the new "Chameleon Jumpsuit" that lets you interact with characters form the past. Also, Jerry Rector does an excellent job playing Gage Blackwood. When compared to the previous installments, this one is everything they were and more. If you are a fan of the series than this is a no-brainer. If you haven’t heard of those games before then this is a good place to start, even though this is the third part, because the story exists independently from the previous ones, and the production values and gameplay are top of their class.
  • Enhanced graphics with double the video playback resolution over the original CD-ROM release.
  • Dozens of different locations ranging from mythical Atlantis, to the harmonious valley of Shangri La, and even the golden city of El Dorado.
  • Gripping plot with many twists that will keep you entertained for hours.
  • Assume the identity of 18 characters and experience their ancient cultures first-hand, using the "Chameleon Jumpsuit".

Solid game with a great story

The journeyman series is by far one of my favorite adventure series. It's a great mix of sci fi and history. The story is gripping, engaging and builds neatly on top of the other two parts. None of the time zones are "real" but they are all based on legends and myths. The developers did a great job creating these places and I really enjoyed the feeling of all of these places. Thanks to holographic technology you can disguise yourself as a native and interact with the world. There's quite a bit of dialog which is a welcome change compared to the other two parts. Arthur, the AI is part of the game too. This time however there's an option on how talkative he is. So if you don't like Arthurs comments you can disable him. If you get stuck, he can be very useful however. I personally am a big fan of Arthur as he adds quite a bit of humor to the game. Jumping between time zones is much easier now as you always go to where you left off. So no more need to retrace your steps over and over again. Another improvement is that you can't die anymore. While the other two parts quickly "ended" if you took a wrong turn this game doesn't let you make any leathal mistakes. There's also score or points system. Just enjoy the story. The game ran rock solid for me. Not a single crash or other issues. Still, make sure to save the game frequently. There is no auto save and losing progress can be very annoying. As this game really managed to take me back into my own past I'm more then happy to give it 5 stars and highly recommend it to fans of the franchise as well as adventure fans. If you're a bored game developer looking for inspiration. Here it is. I'm sure I'm not the only one who'd love to see more parts ;)

Fun & Satisfying!

After playing through this game agian, I have to say that this game has really stood the test of time! Especially considering that this was released around 20 years ago for Windows 98! The gameplay is smooth and intuitive. The graphics are on the low side, but still high enough quality to become fully imersed! Much better controls, sounds and visuals than the first two Journeyman Project games. Storyline is intense and fun to peel back the layers. One other important improvement of note over the last two games is the ability interact with people of each time frame, as various people from each time frame! The level of detail given to the personal interactions between each combonation of people brings so much more satisfaction and fun to the game! It's a shame that the series ended with this game and that other game developers have not taken queues from this game in the way of personal interactions. If I could give this game a 6 out of 5 stars, I would. I highly recomend this game, even if you haven't played the first two games.

Time Travel Fun

Played this game when it first came out and really liked it. I had a good time playing some 20 years later and had to have some walkthru help despite Arthur's hints. Worth playing but just be prepared to be somewhat put off by movement. It is node movement in the 3 historical locations and at times it can be frustrating. But considering how old it is, it is a fantastic adventure with good puzzles in Atlantis, El Dorado/Andes and Shangri-La.

This game is very good but just wont play with Win 11. Nothing can be done as far as I know, mouse is choppy, cutscenes play fast, audio out of sync.

La la la la is back!

One of the must have games for me. I still have the original game DVD, but after a new Quicktime release of that time, the sound was trashed (like everything going through a vocoder), the game unplayable because of that. Nothing would fix that, like almost any other game that relied on Quicktime technology Finally I can get back to play. Thanks to GOG!
