IXION combines city building, survival elements and exploration, into a thrilling space opera as you explore the stars. Propelled onwards through a perilous journey, you are the Administrator of the Tiqqun space station, charged with finding a new home for humanity.
Keeping the station sound and flying will require a deft hand and strategic thinking, as you are constantly pulled between maintaining hull integrity, bringing in new resources and managing power consumption.
What choices will you make when confronted with impending disaster? What will you discover out there in the dark?
A population to manage, survivors to find, cryopods to recover... Maintain your crew's trust in the corporation that started this venture, or face failure and mutiny. Six sectors can be unlocked within the station, each able to house more population, support new jobs, and provide opportunity to monitor the crew with the Data Listening System. Will you bring hope to the people?
Who said DOLOS was the only faction to escape the fate of the Earth? Brush up against other pockets of survivors, navigate on from the failures and wrecks of others… IXION will lead the player through gripping chapters of story, where new threats and opportunities are presented, all in aid of reaching the final destination, a new home.
DOLOS are famed for their innovative technology, their scientists, but the Tiqqun now finds itself cut off. Find what resources you can, research what you do not have. Find new ways to provide for your settlement, construct new buildings to create what’s needed. Modify the Tiqqun station, improve it, forge ahead in this odyssey.
Space is a dangerous place. Hull breaches, overloaded power supplies, electrical fires... It is up to you to manage these risks, deal with emergencies, create backup power solutions, and enable Extra Vehicular Activity…
There are whole new stellar maps to explore. Send out probes to reveal what’s hidden, create mining and cargo ships to find resources, commission science expeditions to discover the secrets and threats you’ll find out there in space. Encounter other survivors and bring them into the fold of your mission, objective - survive.
I have over 100 hours of play on Ixion on Steam, it is excellent and the latest updates have made it more accessible for new players and have added challenges with the new difficulty modes.
Chapter 3 is my favorite, it kept me in suspense... I lost a lot of hours of sleep! xD
I'm happy to see a GoG version, I would buy it soon to be able to share the game with my father and my nephew :D

In its current state it is a sad experience.
Cons:
Accidents plague the ship constantly, at least one every cycle, often many many more. Even with no other negatives from overwork.
Display of critical information is missing/hard to find/displays wrong information. In the housing menu it says that you have a certain amount of housing but if you get to that level you have people without a home.
Constant damage to your ship even when it is idle, eats a lot of time and resources. It does get worse as you open up new sectors. If a building is involved in an accident you get more damage over time. Not a fun mechanic.
Suicidal ships that moves directly though map areas that destroys/damage them.
Every sector is a new base, so if you want to have your industries in one area (and you do because of the bonuses you get from doing this) you still need storage for every resource in all areas that need to use these resources. Takes up a lot of space, energy and manpower.
Events on the space map are a gamble and you just get to pick a solution with little to no information about consequences or chance of success.
You get a stability minus for staying in a system for too long, but when you leave you still get a minus for leaving. So damned if you do and damned if you don't.
To move the ship you use all of your solar energy. It doesn't matter how much solar power you have, and it does not seem to adjust the speed either.

The developers have sadly taken the worst things from Frostpunk that they call their inspiration to make this game. It is a shame as the demo was great.
Is it an hard game ? Yes.
Is it a good game ? Yes, it's a great game.
Should you buy it ? If you enjoyed Frostpunk, you'll love this game. If you're more like Facebook's city builder person, don't.
Im on chapter 2. Playing on easy mode to get the feel of things.
Ive discovered my crew are the most cpmplaining people i have ever know. They are supposed to be.. The best of the best... Wish i had left them behind. I give them decent housing. I feed them insects...Ok thats probably not going to work for long. I am building algie farms and proper farms but do they care, They do not.
I'm looking at waste management so i can recyle more, Be more productive. Be kinder to the environment. They complain and give me a -1 disaproval rate. It's not like it smells or anything stored in those state of the art containers we build in house.
Don't get me started on the accident rate. Sheesh you would think they had never seen a health and safety lecture.They also want a guarantee no one will die on a space mission. It's SPACE its dangerous and people can die.
As you can tell Im having a hard time keeping them happy and content. But i have a secret weapon. Thought control.. I mean centres of wellness and contemplation and policy centers.
Im offering Jam tomorrow and Let them eat Cake.
This is a brilliant game. Ive discovered i can open up a new sector and fully build it with just 40 people.
Once its constructed, Turn it off. Populate it with Cryo people when you have them. Searching for resources is fun. Trying to get 3 at once is a game of its own or can be.
Play this and you wont be bored as it changes constantly.
The bad bits.
Game freezes every so often. Certain mission options dont work. As of writting im setting up Deville 59 Nyokond Colony 60 Alloy 60 Food 60 Colonists. Takes 4 cycles to do. Its been 12 now and nothing has happened. Have had to go back to a saved game and try again.
Also saves dont always load, Screen hangs again. It gets frustrating at times.
Enjoy the game, Traet your people as well as they deserve, Which in my case is ............. ;-)
This is an interesting take on city building. It reminded me of Against the Storm; if you like that game, you'll probably like this. The Campaign feels like investigating a murder mystery, and the Default difficulty level provides some challenge but feels fair. The tech tree is pleasantly different from that of most space games. On the whole, I recommend you buy it.
The big negative is that Campaign mode is the only mode. There's no sandbox, no creative mode, no ability to just create some star systems and build a base. The game feels like playing an RPG with no branching. Really what you're doing is leveling up your hero (the space station) so it can fight the big bad at the end. If the devs released a DLC (should probably be a free DLC tbh) that included a sandbox mode, this would be a 5 star game.
