IXION combines city building, survival elements and exploration, into a thrilling space opera as you explore the stars. Propelled onwards through a perilous journey, you are the Administrator of the Tiqqun space station, charged with finding a new home for humanity.
Keeping the station sound and flying will require a deft hand and strategic thinking, as you are constantly pulled between maintaining hull integrity, bringing in new resources and managing power consumption.
What choices will you make when confronted with impending disaster? What will you discover out there in the dark?
A population to manage, survivors to find, cryopods to recover... Maintain your crew's trust in the corporation that started this venture, or face failure and mutiny. Six sectors can be unlocked within the station, each able to house more population, support new jobs, and provide opportunity to monitor the crew with the Data Listening System. Will you bring hope to the people?
Who said DOLOS was the only faction to escape the fate of the Earth? Brush up against other pockets of survivors, navigate on from the failures and wrecks of others… IXION will lead the player through gripping chapters of story, where new threats and opportunities are presented, all in aid of reaching the final destination, a new home.
DOLOS are famed for their innovative technology, their scientists, but the Tiqqun now finds itself cut off. Find what resources you can, research what you do not have. Find new ways to provide for your settlement, construct new buildings to create what’s needed. Modify the Tiqqun station, improve it, forge ahead in this odyssey.
Space is a dangerous place. Hull breaches, overloaded power supplies, electrical fires... It is up to you to manage these risks, deal with emergencies, create backup power solutions, and enable Extra Vehicular Activity…
There are whole new stellar maps to explore. Send out probes to reveal what’s hidden, create mining and cargo ships to find resources, commission science expeditions to discover the secrets and threats you’ll find out there in space. Encounter other survivors and bring them into the fold of your mission, objective - survive.
I bet 90% of people quit this game after about 10 hours or less. I have about 5 failed play throughs, 50+ hours total, and I am not even passed chapter 3. I have only played on the default/normal difficulty.
The game punishes you for playing the game! That is both its strength and weakness. If you stay in a sector too long you get a crew penalty. That's really dumb, why would your crew have a problem with you trying to gather more resources, so the ship doesn't explode?
The resources needed to keep the ship and crew running will run dry and you are screwed! The frustrating part is you won't realize you are screwed until you have sunk a bunch of time into the game.
You should have the option shutting down a sector and putting some of the crew back into cryo sleep. That would open up a way to slim down when resources are getting low.
Will I finish the game? Probably not, if I do it won't be any time soon. But I don't regret buying it.
I think it is worth the money if you like "slow-life" space-strategy games. Easy to pause, speed up, no need to rush.
After ca. 10+10 hours of play I encountered a tiny problem with slowdown and memory consumption rate = 10+ GB, RAM from 16GB Win11)
The solution was simple:
1. SAVE the game every few hours! Especially after arriving to a new sector.
2. Exit to desktop, (if it does not quit within 2 minutes, simply kill the app! (Waited 20 minutes before gave up.)
3. Start again and LOAD the last save. ;-)
If you are looking for a city survival game with captivating story and tight mechanics that will challenge you to plan and adapt to the ever-changing scenario look no further. I can summarize the game in the following categories:
Graphics: The art style and some tiny detail animations are present makes you want to admire your base. The UI is user friendly and easy to learn.
Sound: Excellent soundtrack really matches the space vibes very atmospheric that’s not all the narrative in this game makes you feel immersive into the story.
Gameplay: You have six sectors with limited space and interesting mechanics, especially in the late game where you can dedicate one of them for a specific resource type or whatever you see fit. There are plenty of resources to harvest and process. The game will keep you busy, you can also change the pace or pause it altogether.
Difficulty: Now this depends on your difficulty settings, but the game is generally hard but not impossible consider creating multiple saves.
Overall, I recommend it for anyone who is looking for a city builder with a challenge, good story, great visuals and soundtrack.
Goodluck administrator!
Well, I love this game. Well balanced and not punish you. Remember me a simcity but in a spaceship will move in some solar system.
If I could talk with developers and producers, I would ask a DLC with Protagoras space living in various scenarious without searching a colonizable planet. And a scenario creating tool.
I played a lot of city builder games (ie. Frostpunk, Surviving Mars, Caesar etc) and this one is the most dificult for me.
There is very little margin for making mistakes. If you make a mistake, very soon you'll have to restart the whole chapter.
Additionally, all the decisions you take from the very beginning of the game, will have an impact till the very end.
So, it's a great game but sometimes it's very frustrating. Couple of times I had to start the game from the begining.
