3D Realms and Voidpoint are proud to bring back the Build engine, which powered Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior, in all of its hand-crafted pixelated glory. They’ve spent a lot of time tinkering under the hood to take advantage of new technology and techniques. Bigger levels, hundreds of new colors, and morphing maps that transform mid-level are all just a few of the advancements made to the engine.

Welcome to ION FURY!

Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison earned her nickname as a bomb disposal expert for the Global Defense Force. When transhumanist cult mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes a cybernetic army on Neo DC, Shelly decides it’s time to start chucking bombs rather than diffusing them.

Her journey will leave trails of blood and gore in huge, multi-path levels filled with those famous colorful keycards and plenty of secrets and Easter Eggs to discover behind every corner. There’s also no regenerating health here, so stop taking cover and start running and gunning. Honestly, Ion Fury should probably come out on three hundred floppy disks.

Shelly’s quest to take down Dr. Heskel’s army will see her use an arsenal of weapons, all with alternate fire modes or different ammo types. Her signature revolver, Loverboy, brings enemies pain and players pleasure with single shots, or Shelly can fan the hammer Old West style. Shotguns are fun, but tossing grenades down their barrels and firing explosive rounds is even better. Bowling Bombs are just as violent and over-the-top as one would hope.

Ion Fury laughs at the idea of constant checkpoints and straight paths through shooting galleries. But just because this is a true old-school first-person shooter doesn’t mean there won’t be all the good new stuff the last two decades have brought. Headshots? Hell yeah. More physics and interactivity? You betcha. Widescreen, controller support, and Auto Saves? 3D Realms and Voidpoint took the best of both worlds and cooked it all into a bloody stew.
  • The true successor to classic shooters such as Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior and Blood.
  • Built using the original "Build" engine, with additional enhancements to further improve the technology.
  • Beautiful hand-crafted artwork, built using original old-school tools and methodologies.
  • 7 exciting Zones, each spanning multiple maps.
  • Tons of enemies, weapons and carnage!
  • Best of both worlds! ION FURY brings back the classic '90s FPS action you love, with modern additions such as physics and checkpoints.
  • Classic level design, no procedural generation! Expect multiple paths, cool effects, and complex set pieces!
  • True tracked module music!
  • Incredible weapons with alternate firemodes!
  • Easy access to development tools and modding on day one!

Don't trust positive reviews

Pluses: * Good music on most levels * Hard enemies * Pathfinding Minuses: * The same shooting scarios are going over and over from one level to another. Barely you will be gifted with someting new. Ocasionally, not so fast as you wish. * Even after correcting brightness and contrast I feel hard to find most enemies. * Much enemies will be on long and very long distance. You have no zoom nor sniper rifle. * Canalisation with 4D effect and inside feeling. Also with music that can bee played with you ass. And with poo enemies. * Pathfinding is often harder than you even could believe. For example on one level you will need to go inside the atomic electrostation mechanism and swim through the rotating elements to get to the next part of level. * Most of enemies will automatically catch you and crosshair in blink of an eye. Even those who are on long distance and barely seen. * Some enemies are absolutely dumb and will go to doors and stuck in them, won't see you staying some metres around. But there arent much of them. * Game is hard from the beginning. * You will have hard lack of ammo. * Game uses 256 MB of video memory and can't use more. That's why it will lag in some parts, especially when fighting with boss on the roof of institute. * There are much ammo and health packs that are hard to find. But people who made game think thats it's kind of 'hmm, yeah, whatever but not a secret'. There are much secret zones that are hard to find. You will need to jump on barrels, thashcans, etc. So don't brake them at first. * Most enemies need 2 HEADSHOTS IN A ROW to die. * Scorpions are very very powerful and can FLY and are shooting 6 rockets one by one with extreme accurancy. In much places you haven't place to run away from them.

Incredible experience built with care

First off, ignore the self-righteous folk who can't allow themselves to support a dev that removed a sprite and some text found outside the game world in leftover map data. Seriousy. That's literally all they removed and people are acting like they cut the game off at the knees. Instead they're choosing to ruin a game's rep by destroying it's review score. Ironically making more of a fuss than those who got offended at some insensitive jokes. To quote 3D Realms about the update regarding censorship: "The answer is no; we are only tweaking a rarely seen decorative sprite and removing some offensive text found outside the game world in leftover map data. The upcoming patch otherwise includes typical bug fixes and balancing changes." So there you go. Thanks everyone for ruining the reputation of an incredible game because you're too busy fuming about the removal of a sprite. Get over yourselves. Regarding the game: It's phenomenal. So much attention to detail throughout and every single area feels loaded with secrets and places to explore. Combat is the most fluid it's ever been on the build engine and the music is on point. I can't recommend the game enough and I have the big box edition on the way. So cheers, hope you can look past the uproar over the removal of a sprite and see that this game is a steal at $25.

Fantastic game!

Ignore the backlash politics that people are creating around this game despite always claiming they don't want politics in their games. If you are a fan of 90's FPS's then this throwback is what you've been waiting for. Brilliant level design and combat with each level brimming with secrets. Contender for GOTY.

Top notch old school FPS

Huge and complex levels, fast and demanding action, gritty cyberpunk aesthetics and a shitload of cheesy one-liners - I like it!

Gets boring

Design level is suberb, music is good, game looks very good overall. But... Weapons are boring and you never get enough ammo. Enemy AI is dumb. You find level after level the same traps in the same moments (pick a key, expect a trap, and so on). First levels are awesome, then gets repetitive and boring as hell.
