3D Realms and Voidpoint are proud to bring back the Build engine, which powered Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, and Shadow Warrior, in all of its hand-crafted pixelated glory. They’ve spent a lot of time tinkering under the hood to take advantage of new technology and techniques. Bigger levels, hundreds of new colors, and morphing maps that transform mid-level are all just a few of the advancements made to the engine.
Welcome to ION FURY!
Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison earned her nickname as a bomb disposal expert for the Global Defense Force. When transhumanist cult mastermind Dr. Jadus Heskel unleashes a cybernetic army on Neo DC, Shelly decides it’s time to start chucking bombs rather than diffusing them.
Her journey will leave trails of blood and gore in huge, multi-path levels filled with those famous colorful keycards and plenty of secrets and Easter Eggs to discover behind every corner. There’s also no regenerating health here, so stop taking cover and start running and gunning. Honestly, Ion Fury should probably come out on three hundred floppy disks.
Shelly’s quest to take down Dr. Heskel’s army will see her use an arsenal of weapons, all with alternate fire modes or different ammo types. Her signature revolver, Loverboy, brings enemies pain and players pleasure with single shots, or Shelly can fan the hammer Old West style. Shotguns are fun, but tossing grenades down their barrels and firing explosive rounds is even better. Bowling Bombs are just as violent and over-the-top as one would hope.
Ion Fury laughs at the idea of constant checkpoints and straight paths through shooting galleries. But just because this is a true old-school first-person shooter doesn’t mean there won’t be all the good new stuff the last two decades have brought. Headshots? Hell yeah. More physics and interactivity? You betcha. Widescreen, controller support, and Auto Saves? 3D Realms and Voidpoint took the best of both worlds and cooked it all into a bloody stew.
The true successor to classic shooters such as Duke Nukem 3D, Shadow Warrior and Blood.
Built using the original "Build" engine, with additional enhancements to further improve the technology.
Beautiful hand-crafted artwork, built using original old-school tools and methodologies.
7 exciting Zones, each spanning multiple maps.
Tons of enemies, weapons and carnage!
Best of both worlds! ION FURY brings back the classic '90s FPS action you love, with modern additions such as physics and checkpoints.
Classic level design, no procedural generation! Expect multiple paths, cool effects, and complex set pieces!
True tracked module music!
Incredible weapons with alternate firemodes!
Easy access to development tools and modding on day one!
It has the old school puzzles and secrets shooters used to have, nostalgia Easter Eggs visual and audio related CHECK!
The guys put the effort in for the era they’re aiming at yet many of these people that came down in the last shower seem to have some other opinion of how things were or should be all I can say is
SHUT UP DON’T BUY IT
Your Kind ruined the Battlefield series your kind Ruined Call of Duty, If it’s not cheaters online ruining a game it’s some half witted mental case claiming some right, You have the right to shut up and don’t buy it, If you don’t like a particular category of book you don’t buy or read it, So apply some common sense you stupid people of the world.
Ion Fury is the best build engine game to this date, the gunplay is excellent, the level design is very well done and always keeps you on track and one your toes. It's a beautiful craft fully realizing the best you could make out of old tech. If you liked Blood, Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem you owe it to yourself to play this one as well. That's everything you should know and yet...
This game has been caught in controversy and counter-controversy, entitled babies from both sides of the political spectrum disliking the game because of their opinions and wishing it to fit their own vision of "political correctness" putting it in an impossible situation where any concession to the other side is going to make the other unhappy. A good game is getting blasted because of self-righteousness and pretense of moral superiority that mostly stems from the cancerous country called the United States America and its culture war which is pouring all over the internet and also from the utterly foolish belief that downvoting or upvoting something and crying very loud is like democracy.
According to ResetEra, if I like this game I'm some sort of Neo Nazi. Seriously the bullsh*t people are talking about is just that - bullsh*t. Don't buy into it. The game is great, a refreshing blast from the past.
Its a damn shame that both 3D Realms and Voidpoint feel the need to bend the knee to a small group of whiners who feel that they need to be perpetually offended on the behalf of others.... smdh
Just playing. This is a very good game. For only 92mb it has great music, good shooting elements and is just dirty fun. I would like to see this brand made into a modernish 3d version too. I have yet to play it's sequel bombshell despite having it in inventory for almost a year.
Is definitely worth a buy if you like FPS games.
Just like in almost every sellable item theres a Vintage version of it or of its kind so there is to a market for "vintage" video games.
Simplicity almost everytime is everything, and in games is no exception.
This type of games are refreshingly welcome in a -FPS HD on rails saturated everybody does it but almost none does it right- market.
But make no mistake, the todays audience wants innovation so if they want to make this kind of game definetly they need to add todays kind of features to yesterdays kind of game.
In my opinion there should be more interactivity with the game itself, ledge grabbing jumps, throwing objects, the goddam MightyFoot that i so miss in every FPS i play, rpg features like character, weapon customization even if minor, that cave, house, den, village kind of thing where you can get your missions, buy&sell, interact. Oh and if this is to be a Duke alike then make her a pottymouth, extreme feminist, oneliner, ballbuster kind of woman.
Dont get me wrong, i do love oldschool kind of games, but it is a major letdown to be just another throwback shooter.
Make it stand out. Make it immersable because that is what makes everyone love it and come back for more- immersion and customization- Giving the character life, making us care for the character and the story, and please a todays artist synthwave soundtrack, will do the trick.
Take hints from the great ones, system shock-deus ex-duke nukem 3d-blood...
For the place that this game whats to take in video game market, in the current state, there are bigger, better and cheaper old games to play, so if it comes to be just another one it will fall flat.
But that its just my opinion.
Anyway, love what you do and honestly wish the best of luck to the new 3D Realms.
