It’s 1982. Auto-terrorism is running rampant while the U.S. languishes in crisis. Groove Champion goes missing and it’s up to Taurus to find him before he becomes a tire track in an all-out war on wheels. Warm up the engine, reload your roof-mounted machine guns, and head on out to the interstate--Interstate ‘82.
Interstate ‘82 features fully charged vehicular combat along with accurate car-handling physics, including realistic suspension and fishtail spins in over 40 missions. A new feature of Interstate ‘82 is the ability to get out of the car, car-jack another driver’s ride, and even run for cover if the need arises.
Put the pedal to the metal in Interstate ‘82 and fill your enemies with fear and lead!
Get out of the car and car-jack your enemies to nick their ride or run for cover.
Fifteen rides to soup up and customize to your liking with an astounding array of weaponry
Survive unexpected twists and turns in immense 3D outdoor environments, including urban enviroments, unfinished freeways, and underground sewers.
I spent some time trying to get this to run using some forum guides (even though you'd expect that a GOG version would just run out of the box) but it looks like it's one of those games where trying to get it to run is a total crapshoot, and you'll have to perform some dark ritual in your basement and pray that it will boost your luck stat enough to magically make this game run on your specific system.
Waste of money.
I kept a good souvenir from trying out the shareware version because the game offered instant fun, it felt very accessible and more arcade than I76. Now that I have played the entire game, I understand why it had so little success. Graphics are really bad for a 1999 game. Physics engine will not make you feel like stunting on the hills like in Carmageddon. On the contrary, you will be extremely careful because bugs can drive you into obstacles and damage your car. Sounds are rather bad, especially voices. Once outside the car, the gameplay gets even worse. Watch ingame videos to make up your mind.
Unfortunately this along with Interstate 76' Arsenal are unplayable copies from GOG. I give the game 4 stars for trying some new things, but no fifth star for failing to be as good as Interstate 76' or even the Nitro Pack. 1 star is for GOG for selling us all three games on here that are broken and unplayable.
Pressing play and nothing happens. GOG is trying to run it and (as mentioned on forums and other reviews) the i82stubz.exe is launched but nothing is happening beyond my PC resources being eaten. I see some complicated workarounds online but I refuse to download dodgy third party files to hack the game install. Sort it out GOG, waste of time and money - luckily I didn't pay much for it!
Running Windows 10 (64-bit) with a decent amount of RAM and nVidia graphics.
