Solid game, strong narritive and design

While not the scariest or all time greatest game ever, this was a pleasure to play that takes the design philosophy of Half-life and makes it's own unique game. They take an idea to focus on for a sectin and then expand on it and work it into the rest of the game. The combat is fun, there's exploration and you have to use your head to figure things out or make combat easier. The "survival" and "Horror" Elements aren't super strong, but what aspects are there serve the solid narrative very well. The music ranges from very suiting, to standard Living Tombstone fare, if you like the latter, great, if you don't, it isn't present enough to bother you. Voice acting overall is solid as well. I don't think I have a single negative thing to say about this. Maybe I wish there was more to it, but I don't consider, "This apartment is incredibly well made, and designed, I wish there was more" as a demerit. They kept it focused and knew what they were making, and the game flourishes because of it. Graphically from a technical perspective, did it look amazing? No. Barring the night sky looking crisp and beautiful in a way that elevates the game, the graphics are fine looking. I prefer that however. I will happily see less than stellar graphical fidelity if it means we get a good 3d game that isn't yet another pixel indie. Artistically however, the game is spectacular. Everly locatation exudes atmosphere, the main boss designs and not only really cool both in look and function, but they will stick with you. In short, play the game. I got it for insanely cheap on sale, and if you bought it full price, you won't be unhappy. They did what developers should have been doing for the past decade, which is take a hit to graphics and make up for it with skillful design and rich substance. I have no idea how I never heard about this and found it by chance on a sale. I'll have to play nightmare house and look foreward to more in the future. Keep it up.

Compelling, weird and relatable

What a wild ride this game is. From it's fantastic atmosphere, story telling, voice acting and visuals, is a game that nailed the psychological horror that so many small budget a lot of times can't reach. It also has a great soundtrack not only to listen to outside of gameplay but also accompanying said gameplay. Speaking of which, gameplay isn't innovative by any means but it works. You have guns and you aim at the weak points to kill enemies quicker and saving as much ammo as possible. Never had a problem with running out of ammo as it's plentiful enough to comfortably fight off any encounter. You gradually get more weapons and equipment as you progress, opening up it's exploration even more. There's collectibles in the form of pills which increase your stats like: Max Health, Stamina, Stealth and Speed. It's a nice incentive for exploring, though I felt like Speed and Stealth were bit on the underwhelming side of things. There's also plenty of lore to learn more about each character presented in the game. However, there's a bit of jank with this being a smaller budget game but nothing that detracts from the overall experience in a significant manner. But I have to address the elephant in the room and it's optimization. What happened here? Sure the game visually is quite good but nothing at the level of big Triple A games. I am playing at 60 fps just fine and all of sudden I get drops to 40 and even 30 depending what is being displayed on screen. Overall, I greatly enjoyed my time with this game with it's superb storytelling. voice acting, music and, well, everything. The optimization issues are annoying and it's something I hope they nail in the sequel or a new game.

A surprising breath of fresh air

This game is amazing. Its been a long time since I have played a horror game with a genuinely well thought out a well told story. The game is creative, pretty to look at, and even fairly emotional at parts. On top of a well told story, the gameplay in the game is also very good. A great combo of combat and puzzles. Nothing terribly difficult to solve, but still well done. continued new items keep it interesting. I highly reccomend this game to anyone. Took me just under 5 hours to beat without 100%. Just long enough to tell an enthralling story without overstaying its welcome. I got this game on sale for $2 and it was beyond worth it. I would buy this game for $30 and consider it worth the price.

I would give this 10 stars if I could

Wow. It has been years since a game moved me to tears, but In Sound Mind came out of nowhere and has completely bowled me over with its powerfully delivered story, masterfully fun gameplay, and absorbing atmosphere. The ending quite literally pulled tears out me, and I'm so excited to see what else the developers do. Please, buy this game. It's so, SO worth it.

It's a safe bet

One if those games where you say "ok I just going to play this one level"...... Next thing you know it's 3AM. It's good and will make you want to hug your cat meow.
