In Sound Mind

I have to admit, I played this as game given away on Epic Games, but that is not the first time I touched it. Steam had this in one of their indie demo days, and that release did NOT impress me. Also admittedly, it was still early access, and I was trying to use it with a controller on a PC REALLY not up to par to run it. So I did not come in expecting much. BUT I'm glad I did! I have to say this was probably one of the better games I have played in a long while. Yes, it was far from flawless, but it oozed atmosphere and the story telling was absolutely top-notch, enough to allow even "Pete" of Disney fame's voice to be menacing before seeing him for the first time (and solidifying that menace). This was simply a great game, and it's a shame it's flaws came through particularly on the absolute last act, souring the end. If this game's gameplay itself was tightened and polished just that much more, I would have something I would have to argue with myself about marking as the first 5 star of the year. As it stands though it is still an VERY solid title which I would recommend anyone with a taste for the horror of the mind itself give a go.

kinda like Alan Wake but first person and weirder. The third chapter with the bull is not very great though and it's a chore to go through. It's reasonably scary and it has some funnies too. Also the game has a cat. The performance is somewhat weird at points and getting all the pills seems a bit pointless and annoying. The game has some stats leveling, that's what the pills are for and when you pick up three pills of a certain color you get a stat boost to the stat of that color, but it's not that necessary if you're playing on easy difficulty and playing on anything harder doesn't seem very rewarding, so I'd definitely recommend going through the story on easy to avoid unnecessary hassle.

You are Desmond Wales, a psychonaut with a gun. Your mission is to dive into the minds of 4 of your patients, which are essentially bizarre and wacky dungeons. Upon solving said uncanny dungeons, you then fight the Persona- I mean avatar of these troubled people, which is always followed by exploring the hotel/apartment building hub that happens to be infested by typhon phantoms from Prey 2017. You are also harassed by Nick Valentine's evil ghoul cousin throughout the game, which keeps whispering "SMOOTHSKIN." behind your back occasionally. You also get to pet the fluffiest white talking cat in between dungeons. If you liked Nightmare House 2 (a Half-Life 2 horror mod), you'll probably like this. It's got some similar horror/humor beats to it. The scare moments are more often interesting and clever than just scary, and also funny here and there. The difficulty was pretty average throughout the game, the only death I had was with this jank platforming section that came out of nowhere that involved a rotating thing where you had to jump over some pipes. P.S. - Don't use Vsync, it kills the framerate.

Silent Hill meets Alan Wake would be just a flavour of this extremely well written game that will be on your mind for days in between playing it and wanting to find out more of the fantasic story. As you play, you'll find all questions are answered and yet none of them. Expect suspense, thrills, action and a unique story. I thoroughly enjoyed this game, well done!

Was a bit sceptic at first, but the atmosphere, the buildup, the different "enemies" it just gets in your mind and won't let you go till the end.
