In Sound Mind

Was interested in this game when saw the trailer but after the oversaturation of walking horror simulators, was hesitant on getting this one (got on steam). After seeing on sale I picked it up and was surprised that it was way different than the usual walking horror simulators I have played. It does seem like a horror game but not really any scary moments nor any gore, more like dark psychological issues that pepole have to go thru in life. The story was not the greatest (some plot holes) but it did keep me interested and with each level wanting to know what will happen next. Gameplay wise, I would say is more shooter than walking simulator and the puzzles seem pretty complicated but when solved you realize they are actually pretty simple when you know the process. Each level is very different and trippy, similar to Psychonauts, and the bosses are part of the environment instead of just being an end obstacle for the next level. The soundtrack was also good with some of the records found in game. The shooting mechanics are simple but still challenging just don't expect any COD set pieces. I am just hoping they continue the story and to clean up some of the plot holes with a sequal since it ends on a somewhat cliffhanger but either way would definitly recommend this game. If not for the full price, definitly the sale price is worth it and I got my money's worth.

Starts as typical psychological horror but quickly evolves into smart, well written adventure with nice puzzles, great music and solid characters.

The Half-Life 2 Mod experience of this team shows, as it feels alot like the game. Just the right amount of exploration, combat and puzzles with very pretty artstyle and great voice acting. A superb experience which never overstays it's welcome and is the perfect lenght. I don't think there is anything about this game which could use improvement.

Not reinventing the wheel and not the newest of games, but it works to keep me engaged. Creepy, rewarding, no getting completely stuck if you care to look around. Thought has clearly been put into the game.

The subject matter (minds, their analysies and anomalies) is of particullar interest to be offcourse so i would have oviously been keen on the game no matter what, even with that bias i am quite impressed with the diverse mindscapes creator/s of this game managed to take me onto thusfar. Yes i get lost and meander in confussion btu that is norm for me and not game's fault, the portrayal of the patients is incredibly good charakter work trying to unravel what makes minds tick and more importantly not tick in an abstract world of drowning seemingly representing the protagonist's own mind decline. I wholeheartidly recommand this game altho just for fans of specific style of mostly wlking simulator style game riddled with puzzles and enviromental sheninigans. Be warned it is very much single golden path type game too so very little in ways of optional exploration that'd branch off into more interesting approach to each patient. there is only ever one way of solving each. I do remember comedy horrors from 80s so know that the combination can and will work in hands of decent writer. Even still the blend here of comedy, horror and mindgames from our beloved antagonist evokes the better if not very best of that genre by its ability to switch between menace and jests, sometimes jovial, without making the "Rainbow" contradictory.
