Less freedom than IGI 1
Completing it for the challenge. It's pretty tedious

At the time quite good now just average
I liked this game back when it was released. It had a sharp look and was different enough to stand out. Sadly, it hasn't aged too well and the game's trial & error parts, where you died through no fault of your own, becomes unbearable since the graphics are no longer that bonus to push you through.

Where is IGI?
IGI 2 was such a disappointment to those that played IGI and experienced what an open shooter could be. I paid big money back in the day for IGI 2 and it ranks high on my list of letdowns that I have purchased. It ranks up there with the all time worst reboot - Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising.

Worst game I ever tried! PC damage.
I had hopes for this game based on description and all, but I just tried it recently and it nearly damaged my PC. Installed fine, loaded fine and played first time fine, but when I got killed very quickly (not an easy game), I chose to restart of course and that is when everything went downhill. The game keeps crashing whenever you try to restart a mission and it crashes hard. No key you press does anything except the ESC key. I tried all manner of fixes and got no place, It just keeps crashing and it also did something to the functionality of my system. I uninstalled and spent almost 20 minutes fixing my system successfully. I will never install or play this malware again. I'm glad I got it on sale and did not pay much.

Worth $1.99
Strictly of interest to first person shooter fans, IGI 2's only merits are the player's movement is smooth and his weapons are varied and powerful. Everything else is low quality and frustrating. Although this game is by a reputable studio, Codemasters, it's far behind the graphics and game play of other titles from this era. The objectives are unreasonably difficult, the bots are clueless but lethal, and the player is allowed only limited saves. The voice acting is amateurish, to say the least. There's no comparing IGI 2 to the likes of Halo Combat Evolved, James Bond 007 Nightfire, or Star Trek Voyager Elite Force, all of which are now abandonware and thus freely available. If only GOG would invest its time and effort into bringing us those kinds of titles instead of pale imitators like IGI 2. Don't buy this game unless you are a hardcore first person shooter collector and have nothing new to play. Make sure it's on sale, too, because you will be disappointed before finishing the first few missions.
