In 2032 an Earth that knows only peace is forced to relearn the art of war.
Twenty years have passed since the population of Earth did a fine job of destroying nearly everything in one final struggle for power by the politicians and military leaders. Twenty years have been spent building a near Utopia, a society where currency and finance are irrelevant, a planet without hunger or poverty. All weapons have been destroyed to ensure peace. But hidden away in an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, a cabal of old-world magnates: ex-leaders, financiers, politicians, and despots, are planning a return to the greed fueled, hate filled past. And there in no way to fight them. Except this one last remaining Adaptive Cruiser – The Antaeus.
Antaeus Rising combines explosive action with powerful real-time strategy. Take command of powerful aircraft carrier/manufacturing platform. Create military units with your carrier using the most advanced nano-technology known by the modern world and lead an army against the forces of the Old World Cabal. Plan your assault from within your carrier and than enter your units for some third-person mayhem! The fate of world is in your hands, are you able to hold it?
Lead your army as a commander or take control of one of the vehicles and join the battle.
Customize your vehicles to make them fit perfectly into your current mission requirements.
Enjoy a storyline written by award-winning author Warren Ellis and narrated by Tom Baker.

Trying to recreate the magic you felt when you played Battlezone? Me too.
Unfortunately, this game was made for a joystick and the movement keys CAN'T be changed from default, and despite what the manual says-you can't turn off turret lock with keyboard-frustrating. I have a widescreen monitor like most people these days, with Vista 64-and the game will just suddenly crash and close itself to desktop-so be sure and save game often.
Graphics, voice acting, and the levels are all very top notch, and the AI is suitably challenging. Well worth the cheap price, but I cannot heartily recommend the game because of the keyboard/mouse and sudden crashing problems.
I feel compelled to write a review as this is one of my all-time favourite games and one I still play with great pleasure even today.
This is a tactical RTS - you command a small group of units that can be customized at will: you can choose chassis (jeep, tank, hovercraft, air fighter), weapon (machine gun, missiles, laser, mortar) and ad-ons such as armour or shields. You will also have a (small) roster of pilot AIs to chose from. Each AI has a distinct play style and personality (which is achieved through great voice acting)
There is no base to build, just your ship where you will build your units instantly. There is only one resource, which is gathered from the field or from destroyed enemies. This simplicity is one of the things I love about this game.
Like Carrier Command, you can jump in the cockpit and pilot any vehicle on the field.
You can issue orders in active pause, from the command view (in classical RTS fashion) or directly from the cockpit if you are piloting a vehicle. This allows you to set the pace for the game: relaxed and thought-out from the command view, or in the heat of the action as you dodge enemy fire.
Overall I would say this is a pretty easy game - or let's say it's pretty hard to lose. This is mainly due to the active pause (you never get overwhelmed or need god-like APM). All units can be recycled with no resource loss (allowing to modify unit composition with no penalty). And you can easily out-play any of your AIs if you feel like jumping into the cockpit.
All in all everything ties beautifully together: the simple game mechanics, the AMAZING story, voice acting and personality of the pilots, variety of enemies and the feeling of power as things ramp up to epic proportions (although you never have more than 8 units). A true hidden gem!
First GOG review, just had to recommend this game. I'm a big fan of the original concept of Carrier Command even if in reality it was too far ahead of its time technically and as such wasn't a great game. This game takes the formula and really makes an excellent gaming experience around it. Choosing the right vehicles with the right weapons matters, and the game offers a decent challenge, its not just a tank rush, a few missions I had to restart multiple times but it never felt unfair. Also, the level designs are great, the situations are generally varied and scripted events require you to think on feet and adapt. unlike the recent adaption of carrier command (which i liked!), this game doesn't suffer the same path finding issues, and also has a surprisingly long campaign, so you really get your moneys worth. I've been looking around and really cant find much else like it, closest is probably battle zone or maybe uprising, though with full control over units over a whole map and order queues, this has greater strategic elements than both. This is the kind of game GOG was made for.
I bought this game someday in 2004 on sale for 2 bucks. Still have the original CD. I expected good game because of Rage and their Incoming. This is definitely one of my top 5 games I've ever played. Imagine the year 2001 when this game was released. Very original gameplay, awsome voice acting, great cutscenes, day/night cycles, changing weather and interesting mix of RTS vs hard 3D action. I've never seen something like this before in 2004. I remember that incredible satisfied feeling when finished it first time.
Yes, now the graphics is outdated but the gameplay still remains good.
I will never forget those voices, especially the Ransom's one. When they reacts on the others or battle situations and chating or teasing one another.
If you like Carrier Command, try this amazing unique and now hidden gem, which not long after release was forgotten in time. There is no need to write more info 'cause other gamers did it before (recommend review of Tiberius.311 from March 13, 2018).
Fantastic game, achieves everything it attempts.
It's like of a half way point between a squad based tactics game and a strategy game.
Set up your carrier near an island, sneak ashore to harvest resources and use those resources to build dozens of different combat aircraft and ground units.
Equip these units with individual AI and set out multi-pronged attacks against enemy installations.
Use salvage from battles to improve your own equipment and gather more resources.
I love this game. Meticulously planning every stage of a conflict to maximise damage and minimise resource spending never gets old. Manually jumping into battle alongside your AI squad is always satisfying.
And at this price, I mean, come on.
