You were never intended to play this
Team Cherry seems to have decided that the problem with Hollow Knight was that people enjoyed playing it. That's not a mistake they repeated with Silksong. This game will do its best to let you know that you aren't supposed to play it, and you should take that advice.

Difficult to the point of frustration
I usually welcome difficult games. I thoroughly enjoyed FromSoft games, my favorite among them was Sekiro. I played HollowKnight several times, and a couple of Nine Sols. Never in my gaming life have I ever reached triple digits of attempts on boss or multiple wave encounters, in any game. Silksong is not difficult in the challenging fun way, it's difficult in the frustrating way. Some encounters are too long, too messy. A lot of the flying enemies you spend way too long chasing them down. On some bosses the last rest point is so far away, you spend several minutes just for another attempt on the boss, with enemies along the way taking you down to half health. This is not limited to bosses or encounters, the platforming sections are the same way. Dozens of attempts, some of them you finish the section with 1-2 health, and end up 1 shot by a random mob in a dark room and have to do it all over again. 37 hours in at this point, about half way through the game, and I think I'm just done.

What a nice unbearable game that is.
I beat Hollow Knight. I even did like the "Path Of Pain" - and it was glorious fun. But Silk Song is just too much pain. I'm frustrated. My hands and fingers hurt. I can not encourage myself to go on. Every new part of the map is twice as hard as the previous one. Upgrades do nothing to none to make you stronger or more resilient. If you're not good at the game it punishes you with the need to grind for the currency. I'm seriously thinking about a refund because this game feels like a rougelite - and I hate them all. 2 stars are for visuals and soundtrack - and I'm happy I paid for the music. The game itself is just a big disappointment right now.

Far to petty
Many people will discuss how difficult this game is. It is not difficult. It is petty. Game design decisions were made that make this game decidedly less fun to play. if you die (twice) you lose your limited resource. if you lose your reource you cannot unlock the save spot. without the save spot you have huge setbacks on death and you lose your resource.
