Very difficult. Not for everyone.

This is easily the single most difficult and punishing mainstream Metroidvania game ever made, bar-none. It is a LOT harder than Hollow Knight, and it's also a lot harder than Metroid Dread and other games in the genre that lean towards the more difficult end of things. If that's something you're cool with, and maybe even what you're looking for, this could probably turn out to be your favorite game ever. It's objectively well made amidst its extreme difficulty and there isn't a lot else like it. That being said, due to its extreme difficulty and how deeply it punishes you for almost every mistake, I do not feel this game is nearly as mainstream-palatable as Hollow Knight was, amidst all the hype pre release. This isn't a game for gamers with limited time or who don't want to put in a lot of commitment to it and its mechanics. The way I view it, the game basically only has a "very hard" mode, and you just need to deal with that or not get invested in it. I personally refunded this game after a little while because it wasn't for me, at least as it stands right now. The sheer difficulty was too much for me personally, even if others might appreciate the game for that aspect. I did this after having previously played Hollow Knight start to finish years back and loving it without having any substantial issues getting through it. I may re-buy this game and return to it if Team Cherry ever opts to update the game with an "easier" mode of sorts to optionally bring its difficulty back down to Hollow Knight levels at least. They do not need to do this, of course, but it's something that would be greatly appreciated to myself and many others if they did go through that effort. I'm rating it 3 stars because I could not personally get into the game, but it's objectively a high quality game when taken as it is that many will love regardless of difficulty.

Not Fun or Interesting

I thought Hollow Knight had very interessting areas and characters, even if it was way to hard for me. This is even harder but putting that aside not fun and very tedious, and paying to rest , the whole thing is off for me.

Good but infuriating

For me, Hollow Knight was a solid 5 out of 5: Challenging, beautiful and rewarding. After finishing Silksong at 100%, I feel like I finished a tedious and infuriating chore. It's not just that the difficulty is way higher than in Hollow Knight, which it is, there are some design choices that I will never understand: - Some bossess filling the screen with effects that made imposible to see what was going on. - All of them have extremely high health. - Gauntlets are WAY more abundant than they should be and some bosses have them previos to their encounters, it's terrible. -The game, in my opinion, is too long, I've spent 50+ hours on it and I was tired at the end. This is not in of itself a bad thing, but this directly influences the sense of progression. At the beginning, specially in act 1, you don't have a sense of geting stronger or achiving anything. - The two currencies and other things mentioned already are also a problem. I understand that there are a lot of people who enjoyed this level of difficulty even if it is unfair in a lot of cases, but you have to explain to me why a sequel to a game is WAY more difficult than it's predecessor. It makes no sense, people who played Hollow Knight praised it for what it was, it makes no sense to make a sequel only for the ones who wanted the game even harder. Hollow Knight made the Godhome DLC for this, Why Team Cherry couldn't have done the same thing here? Leave the masochism as an option for those who wanted it. To put an example: there is a boss in the game that leaves you with no floor, so you have to glide in the walls of the arena. There were fights like that in Hollow Knight in the Colosseum of Fools, but they were an option, here it is mandatory for reaching the true ending, which is the real ending and where you are supossed to get. All in all I recognize a good game when I play it, I'm not saying that Silksong is bad per se, I just don't get why it has to be this infurating when HK got it all right.

Great but.....

It's just as good as expected but damn it's way too hard OK after playing more I change my review game is infuriating and frustrating, who balanced that game should really admit he failed because the game is needlessly, stupidly hard for absolutely no reasons, I enjoyed Hollow Knight for many many hours I'm going to beat Silksong and if someone ask me if they should play it I would say no go play Ori and the will of Wisps, same kind of game but you will actually havea good time playing it unlike this nightmare
