Not so bad but tedious and not so fun
I love rogue-like and difficulty doesn't scare me but only if it delivers fun and a feeling of accomplishment, which is not the case here. You enter the dungeon without explanation nor training, learning to play the hard way : my first two runs I died in less than 1 minute. It means I even didn't have the time to learn nor enjoy playability. As you die you lose absolutely everything (except for a part of you experience) : gold, ore and stuff unless you managed to send a part of it through an elevator (if there is any on your floor!) being taxed by the way. Furthermore : there is no way out a part from dying ! You may only go deeper in the dungeon until you die. Weird. And why is there is a tax system if the only way to put gold out is the elevator? Eventually your character gets levels, becomes stronger as the town will develop and let you improve your skills : at least you will feel a progression... but you need to replay many times the same floors in the dungeon (and die so much times) to reach this results. After hours of playing I finally beat the first boss... only to discover the next level is MUCH harder than the previous ones. So I died quickly... I was hoping that a shortcut to this level would be unlocked in town but it seems there isn't any. So I have to replay ALL the first levels and the boss in order to continue. I did it, it was quite easy because I'm now level 5 but it was long, and boring. And of course I died very quickly again in the next level... it is clear that I still have to grind a lot in the first levels before venturing forth. And that's the point : this is not what I expect for a game, even a rogue-like one. I expect to feel a linear progression, learning from my failures, trying again and be proud when I finally overcome the obstacles. Here you just have to grind (and you are forced to die) but eventually it depends very little on the player's skills and strategies. I have to try it coop but I doubt it will change anything.
