Not so bad but tedious and not so fun

I love rogue-like and difficulty doesn't scare me but only if it delivers fun and a feeling of accomplishment, which is not the case here. You enter the dungeon without explanation nor training, learning to play the hard way : my first two runs I died in less than 1 minute. It means I even didn't have the time to learn nor enjoy playability. As you die you lose absolutely everything (except for a part of you experience) : gold, ore and stuff unless you managed to send a part of it through an elevator (if there is any on your floor!) being taxed by the way. Furthermore : there is no way out a part from dying ! You may only go deeper in the dungeon until you die. Weird. And why is there is a tax system if the only way to put gold out is the elevator? Eventually your character gets levels, becomes stronger as the town will develop and let you improve your skills : at least you will feel a progression... but you need to replay many times the same floors in the dungeon (and die so much times) to reach this results. After hours of playing I finally beat the first boss... only to discover the next level is MUCH harder than the previous ones. So I died quickly... I was hoping that a shortcut to this level would be unlocked in town but it seems there isn't any. So I have to replay ALL the first levels and the boss in order to continue. I did it, it was quite easy because I'm now level 5 but it was long, and boring. And of course I died very quickly again in the next level... it is clear that I still have to grind a lot in the first levels before venturing forth. And that's the point : this is not what I expect for a game, even a rogue-like one. I expect to feel a linear progression, learning from my failures, trying again and be proud when I finally overcome the obstacles. Here you just have to grind (and you are forced to die) but eventually it depends very little on the player's skills and strategies. I have to try it coop but I doubt it will change anything.

Better than Hammerwatch in every aspect

Just an amazing game. Tight gameplay, fluid controls that allow you to deal with the roguelite bullet hell it becomes in later levels. So. Much. Fun. in four player online co-op! Saving games and the netcode also work mucht better than in Hammerwatch, no savegame mishaps, and just a few disconnects of a single person, which might as well have been their connection, but overall very stable.

*Warning* DRM title

You need to use galaxy to play multiplayer online. I came here to buy this to avoid valves DRM, and your stuck with DRM here too. Gonna stay away from this title unless they fix it, or release it on switch.

A tedious grind, needs QoL improvements

I'm surprised at how punishing this is, for a rogue-light, and there are many strange design decisions that are just wasting your time. You'd think this were a mobile game and they're trying to sell you ways to speed up the game with how much of a slog it is. * One level upgrade of the town costs twenty ore, which is a lot, and gives no incremental progress. Then you need _forty_ ore for the next one. * The elevator to send ore back to the town is always far from the exit to the next floor, encouraging you to risk more and lose more, wasting more time. * The first boss' attacks nearly never come out of his sprite from the same direction he's facing, so you needlessly take damage. * Tax when sending gold back reeks of a pooly balanced economy. * Item buffs are so small as to be unnoticable, so the rogue feeling of having different playthroughs is gone because combat is the same between dungeon runs. * The hidden button in the dungeon floors isn't hard to find, it's impossible and contributes to the slog feeling. * Locked chests without keys means you have to buy them without knowing you'll need them, encouraging you to waste gold, which reeks of a poorly-balanced economy. * Intergenerational progress needs many ore to unlock, and it takes forever. * They shove BUY THE DLC ads into your face. Redeemingly, the trash mob AI is surprisingly good, circling around you to kill you efficiently. Too bad other mechanics aren't so considerate.

Simple. Epic. Fun.

This game is fantastic, I've spent many an enjoyable hour. The replayability is fantastic as the game gets harder and harder as you progress. There are numerous upgrades and improvements and some excellent DLC that gives you even more to explore. This game is a super easy to pick up and put down.
