Haegemonia Gold Edition

Game no longer runs at all on Windows 10 using an AMD GPU. Cannot recommend the game in its current state.

I forgot how completely and utterly beautiful this game was, I remember it when it first came out and the only flaw I remember was it not having a skirmish mode! Don't compare this to homeworld embrace it for what it is a stunningly beautiful planetary management space strategy! Forget Sins of a solar empire or the new Sword of the stars go retro and get this game!

According to the Games change log windows 10 support was added in 2016. For me the game however keeps crashing whenever im trying to launch a game. I tried compatibility modes and lots of other things but could not get it to run on a PC in 2022. So my game experience is actually 0/5.

I bought that game back in the days when it was originally released, and I was absolutely impressed by it's visuals and sound design when the ships battle each other. Particle Effects and Ship explosions are awesome, can't stop looking. This GOG version works mostly fine on my new machine, and there is an GUI update included (not sure it's from GOG or others) that fixes the 4:3 video ratio so you can play the game. It offers a semi-version of 1440 x 1080, but you have black bars on the sides, the game itself is still only 4:3. The Strategy level is nice, but not extremly deep. Game level take place on mutliple starsystems where you can battle and colonize planets. IMO it's definitly worth to play if you like games like this, especially for a low price. Playing it on Win 10, with an AMD Ryzen 5 7600X and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 with good FPS. Small Downside : It randomly crashes (but not often) with an error for the games sound system. Also the starbackground looked a bit more washed out than i remembered.

I agree with the one who said it needs another patch. This game could go much further. I have learned a lot about how it works playing this game.
