Haegemonia Gold Edition

This can be a very good game, the last Space Based RTS i tried was Homeworld 2 and since the AI in it cheated like crazy to be challenging, i stopped looking for any good Space Based RTS games. But this is the last space RTS that was a good game, i would have preferred an expansion pack that provided more then pointless MP rubbish. Overall, a very good game.

I'm not sure why everyone compares this to Homeworld unfavourably. While there's nothing wrong with Homeworld of course, I always preferred the depth and "feel" of Haegemonia. It really felt like sitting at the command station of the fleet, developing technologies and base defences alongside the tactical "meat" of the game. This lends it an epic feel, a vast stellar field full of movie-like effects and atmosphere. If you ask me the representation of space combat has never been surpassed, from the intertia of the ships to the incredible explosions, all candy but it really helps to make Haegemonia one of the best games of its type ever released. I'm so glad GoG is offering this one with the Solon Heritage, which was virtually impossible to find in stores at the time.

Great space RTS game( plays like Sins) with elements of empire management good story and still looks good in 2018. I played this back in the day and bought it again because it was so good once you work out the GUI and controls its well worth investing the time to play it.

So many gamers never got the chance to try this game out, and that's a shame. You can do research and diplomacy. We all know how that works in these types of games. It does it rather well, and there are nice little surprises from time to time. Though the combat is so fun in this game. The battle show damage on the ships and their deaths are awesome to see. Debris is left over in a believable fashion as they drift through space from the explosion/implosion that wrecked them. Planet based weapons and space stations add to the mix of ships in the game as well. Do yourself a favor and pick this up. Great time passer and more.

After the stunnig Imperium Galactica I & II I laid my hands on this game. Maan that time it was awesome, good storyline, nice space battles (yeah for some reason the assaults with tanks wasn't for me in the previous series, but not in this game) and the music, shees it's beauty itself, like all Digital Reality games. I guess it can be said that this was the forerunner of The Nexus. It's a BIG shame that DR went banktrupt. But maybe one day when Elon colonizes Mars, people will get more interested in space-based games.
