FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
Ignore the haters, the new Gwent is better than the beta version. The developer seems committed to the game and keeps improving it also. Would give this four stars (cause it can still be improved), but giving five to balance out the unreasonable 1 star reviews.
As of December 2018 Gwent is a completely different game from its original form. If you loved the simple and tactical Witcher 3 mini game, that had no business being as good as it was, then you may be hankering for more, well this is not what you are looking for. Though different, this new incarnation of Gwent had its own good point, along with many bad, but it can still be ejoyable for what it is.
The biggest issue that any newcomer faces in modern Gwent is knowing what to tech into. You can very easily waste your starting resources, leaving you with a mish mash of cards that dont work well together and leave you in a position where you cant ever hope to win against anybody but the A.I. This is the games biggest issue, and coupled with a host of reductive efforts where nerfs are used to balance the game, rather than proper rebalances that dont stiffle creativity and leave the meta stale. This all compounds to inhibit the exploration of new tactics by newcomers and veterans, due to inviability of most decks outside the meta.
The issue should have gotten better with more and more added cards, but every few months when I come back to the game I'am astounded by how the game is less and less inviting than it was prior.
There are some serious problems such as balance it's all over the place some factions are OP to alright to utterly terrible and the lack of combo cards makes things worse
Please remove artifact cards in the game, it's really not fun to play against them =.= especially Sihil It's also the reason why it made me quit the game called Shadowverse since it has the similiar problem of having to rely on a particular card in order to remove the card on board. If you didn't draw your artifact removal or didn't stock enough of artifact removal = you lost the game instantly
In the past one of the Gwent developers said that uninteractive cards are not a good idea, now why they are back in Homecoming with these Immune cards! Also depending on which card you have used Eredin's ability on most of the time it's really OP with no way on shutting it down
Skellige is the weakest faction, most of the cards either sucks or are pain in the ass to activate especially bloodthrist cards with those crazy requirements in order to activate ability
I really dislike Homecoming's rows cards, in order to activate ability you must place the card in the correct row to activate ability plus most of the cards sometimes has only 1 ability which plain sucks when you didn't manage to fufill the requirements needed to activate ability pointing a Skellige cards on this one. Other cards that has 2 abilities are great
Even though there are things that i really dislike in the Homecoming Update, the reason why i am still playing GWENT is because GWENT is the most Free to Play friendly card game that you can ever find! plus CD Projekt Red is one of the last remaining passionate game developers who understand gamers with great business practices that others should take notes, such as full game single price. No disgusting cash grab low effort DLCs/Season pass/Online Pass/Play game earlier pass. No microtransactions on single player games. I can accept microtransactions/lootbox only on multiplayer games
