Better than the beta.
I get that A LOT of you are annoyed that the game suddenly changed, maybe for the better, maybe for the worse. Honestly... I wasn't really a beta player, so I don't miss the old card effects. What I can tell though... the game looks way better, the interface, the whole 3D gameboard and leader... it just works for me, so I give this game a THUMBS UP.

STILL the best digital cardgame.
I have been playing Gwent since closed beta. Gwent 1.0 is a very different game than both Betagwent and Gwent from the Witcher 3. However, it is better than both of the above. Here is why you should play this game: - Lack of RNG. There is one archetype in the game (Reveal Nilfgaard) that features RNG mechanics. That's it. Aside from that, variance comes from drawing and individual player skill. - Slow, strategic pace. Unlike the beta version of Gwent, and unlike certain other digital card games, the optimal play style is slow, value-oriented, and involves planning ahead multiple turns. You can't just drop a five card tutor chain or burst combo on the first turn and hope to win. You have to gain a dominant board position over the course of three to ten turns rather than in a single turn. - Varied and dynamic meta. I have spent weeks of my life playing Hearthstone, Eternal, Magic Arena, Betagwent and Elder Scrolls Legends, but I have never encountered a game where the meta shifts as frequently as in Gwent 1.0. Every faction has multiple viable archetypes, and the dominant archetype changes seemingly every week. There is never "that one deck" that can beat everyone and never goes away. - Art and atmosphere. Gwent has the best artwork in any digital card game, and there are literally no exceptions. Collecting the cards in this game is a joy for the beauty of the cards alone. - In-game advancement. You do not need to spend any money on this game. Just play and have fun. Work your way through the rewards tree. Yes, you have to work your way to a full collection, but it's no harder than building a character in an RPG. In sum, this is a great game. There is no better time to start playing than now! Give it a try. You can't beat the price.
