FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
Seriously, Gwent maybe lacking the eSport support other companies are giving to HS and Artifact, I still consider it the best among them
As for the "Old gwent is more fun", Please anyone give me an example on why it is better. HC happened because the old gwent lacks diversity and the game gets more boring each game, HC changed that.
All in all, gwent is very free-play-friendly (which no other card games can claim that), give it a try whether you are old or new player, you won't regret it
old gwent had flavor and uniqueness unlike any other card game. the last update introduced many unsoughtafter bugs that ruined many of my games, and still are. tried reporting them, and yet new and old bugs still appear.
In terms of balance, the provisions system was implemented badly in my opinion- as numbers are to low to balance properly, and not enough variety is presented ( many effects were removed from the game in the last update ).
in terms of flavor many of the card effects dont realy make sense for the card or are planely boring.
for comparison, old gwent had many cards that allowed to play around with cards in the deck, which was one of the main charactaristics of gwent.it was fun, interactive and beautiful way to play. new gwent has very little of this mechanic.
the UI feels bad, many animations have lag and the game feels clunky in general, as though it's not finished. new leaders models is meh, i liked the old leaders better but honestly the difference is small.
the game is still somewhat fun and has great potential, and i hope it comes back to being one of the best games i ever played.
I've been playing Gwent since the closed beta. It's seen some dramatic changes since then, but it's still a great game with better visuals than ever before. Gwent is absolutely beautiful on a 4K monitor.
I'm surprised why Gwent has 3,6 stars only. May be someboody doesn't like but I think Homecoming is a rght decision. After removing one row, cards became bigger, and I realy love how they looks like. Gwent is a nice card collection game. I want to look on cards. I want to play them. Also this opens way to tablet's Gwent. May be not all new things in Homecoming are best. The game lost a bit in dinamic. But in general it is a big step forward. And last addon - Crimson Curse are awesome:)!
Unlike in MTG or Hearthstone, the winner of the game is not the one who gets the opponent’s “hero” to zero health, but it’s the player who wins 2 out of 3 rounds with the most points on the board. There are 5 factions, each with several 3D animated leaders, and each leader has unique abilities to influence “the battle”.
Each card has a provision cost, and to make a valid deck you need at least 25 cards and a maximum number of provisions. In the end, the deck consistency is pretty high so the RNG is not crazy as it is in other games. For experienced players, a game takes about 10-15 minutes.
The starting decks are pretty trash, but so far Gwent is the most F2P friendly game out there. Slowly but surely the game is losing its generosity but it is still in a very good place right now. All the cards also have premium versions, which are animated. The (overall) art style is good but I would still like to see a lot of cards reworked, sometimes the animated versions don’t really bring much. The lore for the game is the Witcher universe, Witcher 3 in particular. You will see a lot of characters from the game.
Out of the CCGs that I played, I liked Gwent best (so far). The low RNG, deck building, lore, development, and gameplay, really appealed to me. Not to mention that Witcher 3 left me with an itch to scratch.
